Broke out the dreml and opened up the juice channels tonight.. and it made it better, chain vaping till the nic hits me with a juicy vape the whole time, yay for me!

I gauged the juice channels on mine at 1.3mm ID, opened them up to 1.8mm, haven't noticed any leaking yet :) all improvement so far.

Same coil and same wicking method before and after.

Congrats. That is very good news!

:D

G'luck.

I can't decide if I want to get another nano or get a mini. I prefer the nano size as juice capacity is not a concern and I like smaller tanks but I like the rebuilding option on the mini. At the same time, I know I can rebuild the stock coils but I've typically had very inconsistent results with wicking when I try to rebuild and usually get annoyed with dry hits and end up using a new stock coil instead. Basically if I don't intend to use the RBA base then I will get a nano but I just don't knoooow... I need advice lol. I mean if you get a nice rebuild on the stock coil instead of the RBA base, would you say it vapes better than a RBA build? I do have several other RBA that I barely use due to me not getting good build so it's not like I won't have other RBA options but I do like the subtank design and the option to use both. Ahhh can't decide!!

Give yourself some latitude…go Mini.

To not decide is to decide.

I would go with the mini, you may not want to build now, but at least you have the option there if you change your mind, and it is pretty easy to build on, as far as rebuildables go.

Plus you don't really have to do anything except add wicking. I'm using the prebuilt coil cuz I'm lazy.

You guys must have seen Kangertech is due to come out with a bigger tank sometime soon. 7.5 ml tank . I wonder if there is an improvement in the rba .

Looks like the same rba head as the ST mini. Subtank plus is basically what they should have launched as the subtank in the first place had they done a bit more testing and r&d before rushing the OG subtank to market.

Lotta probs on this thread with dryhitting. Lot if peeps blaming the juice channel size too. Also a lotta folks not wicking heavy enough imo. There's nothing wrong with the juice channel size imo. The STm has no probs keeping up with chaining at 25w if wicked properly. I think the 25-30w vaping range is what kanger had in mind with this design. I find the best wattage for my current kgd wicked build on my rba set to the 2-hole afc setting works kick ayuss at 27.5w. Nice warm, not hot, juicy vape there. This tank wasn't designed for as high wattage as say the Lemo or Delta II but puts out killer flavor at the power levels it was designed for.

I wick my 2.75mm ID coil with a 9.5-10mm wide strip of skinned (both sides) kgd. No split tails or anything special. Just long enough for the tails to reach the deck and juice channels kept unblocked. I literally have to roll the kgd down with some compression and pull it from both sides (stretch it) to get it through without wrecking the coil.........Wick it chunky peeps.

I personally just tried the split wick and am having success with that method. I've wicked and haven't had success sometimes. There was a day I rewicked like 4 times trying to get it right. Once you find something that works, it truly is a great vape. I'm running around 25-28 and had it to 30 no problem. I'm sure we have all tried pushing it higher and you will eventually find where its gonna be to much or just plain burnt tasting.

I did. Went from 18mg down to 6mg. That part worked out better. Now if I could fix the throat/cough thing, and the LACK of vapor production......Then I'd be all set!

I solved this increasing the wattage up to 30W and opening the air regulator more, now works great with much more vapor and no harshness at all

I agree it's adequate. But it won't stop many from thryin' to throw more power at it. Never did with the Protank which had it's optimal too. I'm inclined to research that but very, very pleased with the 15-18W output with the TLP compared to most of my drippers. I think most will be happy in that 15-20W zone with the occasional foray beyond.

Just mile rolling tho. Start to rope or twine it and it starts overlapping fibers magnifying the compression. Just a bit more than fits the coil and stretch it taught as you pull. It's almost enough to skew the coil. That's maximum density for KGD. Remove just a few fibers if too much. I cut 3/8", almost 4x my usual 2.5mm coil Ø to reach that tightness, removing one side of the backing (which may have its uses).

I'm having no problems chaining at higher power and wick density as you and I suggested here. It seems to have caught on and I'm seeing it's spread. Linear flow wick compression works. It's still a warm vape with this tank even as tension winds keep coil temps down. I'm having to get used to slightly warmer vape temps with juices like Tribeca that have a different balance of flavor notes below 15W. I enjoy a very warm dense 60W on Trident with the dual t.m.c. twisted center-post but the cooler denser and high vapor output on a tank is excellent counterpoint. Also the amazing ability to dial up the vapor production with real airflow variability (along with power). I mean it's nice to see when you drive.

Glad we're finally both enjoying this tank's potential. Disappointed with the Mini plus confining us to the smaller RBA tho. OTOH, I'm going thru at least another 50% of juice with the Mini's than I was before. We all screamed for the higher production. So I guess we only have ourselves to blame for maxing it out right?

Question is between you and me, how techy are we gonna get here before we start losing those just landing?

Musing a bit this morning. Have a great day all.

G'luck.

:)

10mm wide strip skinned in a 2.75mm coil.. I missed something along the way :) I'll give it a go.
I've been cutting mine 4-5mm wide and leaving the skins on.
I enlarged my juice channels by 0.5mm and that's helped considerably, and I can run 25-27w comfortably now, if skinned 10mm wick in a 2.8mm coil is good then maybe a double bonus :p
I've been vaping genesis atty's exclusively since 2012 so the Kayfun style RBA and most of the RDAs are new to me..
