So... Just for the heck of it I took my used 0.5 ohm head and removed the cotton wick with some tweezers,. Then I dry burned the coil clean and carefully threaded a new piece of cotton in place. I had seen a video of this procedure on you tube some time ago. I am surprised at how well it worked. It is Very, very, easy and for those choosing to use the stock coils this could save them some serious bread...-Dave
I tried the RTA for the first time today, the hits aren't nearly as juicy as with the heads. I'm not the dremmeling type, but closing up the airflow has seemed to help some, but I may just stick with the heads.
@Darryl Licht
Here is the photo ... I tried the pancake wicking method and it did not work even though i had it right on the floor of the table, the flavor wasn't great and then i got dry burns. I had it very full and tight inside the coil. I had it soaked too.

to get the 2nd rba i just decided to buy another mini, that way i can switch between my 2 different coil builds on the fly w/out the bother of swapping out the rba'sanyone have an idea of what other base could be used to test/build the RBA and OCC? or where to find a spare Subtank base?

i was close to buying a lemo as i heard they were great but hated how the air adjustment is made and the refill w/removing the screw and on top of that u need to remove the base first b4 u can do any of those things, too much work for me to bother with, imho. Can someone tell me how this RBA compares to the Lemo? I just got a subtank Nano and I am absolutely loving it. Prob the best tank I've tried right out of the box. I got the nano because it would look good on my Ego One and because of the small size, but I really wish it had the option for the RBA base like the mini. But since the nano is so good, I thought about getting another Mini anyways since I can use the coils if I don't have a good build or don't feel like building. Thing is, I'm kinda bad at rebuilding, can never get the wicking perfect for some reason.
not quite my plan, but I can see how that works!
I want a base just for the rebuilding, a base that did not come from or belongs with any of my 3 Minis.
like, can I get one of these:
Kanger Mega Airflow Control Valve V2 - Airflow Controllers, Parts - Accessories
and be able to screw the RBA or OCC into it to test ohms, test fires, etc..
The RBA itself will thread into a 510 connection, if you have an old mod it could work, I use the brass end cap from a segelei tube mod to build sometimes..

hopefully they will redesign it
You're talking about the Lemo right?
@Joey Blue, How are those 1.2ohm heads vaping? I'm planing on picking up a box myself but I've only used the .5 heads so far...Whats your opinion on the differences between the two? Thx

In your opinion, does it vape better as stock coil, RBA, or rebuilding the coil itself?
Kanger replied to my inquiry and stated they will be available in 2-3 weeks and to watch for an announcement on their website.
thanks for the reply! Sweet-Vapes replied to my inquiry, says they'll have some in a week or two, and the Aerotank Mega base is a perfect fit for the meantime.
Never built a microcoil in this thing, it seems to like big coils.
I've had the best luck with a 2.8mm id coil, 3mm was good too but restricted airflow just a bit, not necessarily a bad thing..
