Been vaping for about 3 years . . . all you read on this board is that RBAs and RDAs are the bomb -- the KAYFUN IS GREAT GET ONE -- yada yada yada yada . . .
For the 5th or 6th time now, ive been UNSUCCESSFULLY trying to build coils for this useless piece of equipment that I have had for over a year now. No matter the gauge, the wires come lose from the screws . . . resistance fluctuates . . . followed ALL tutorials recommended on here BOTH VIDEOS and ILLUSTRATED TO THE "T". . .
I finally threw the thing across the room . . . I'm done . . . either there is something "elite" vapers don't want you to know or they want you to fail . ..
If you guys thinks its "so easy," you come pick up the pieces of this useless expensive garbage and its yours . . .
I M P O S S I B L E! ! ! !
Is it an authentic Kayfun or a clone? I can understand the screw issue on a clone, but I love the authentic KFL+. It was my first rebuildable and I built a coil and vaped that bad boy for a 2 weeks straight. I freaking love my Kayfun. The quality is amazing, if its authentic.
First. That is a great photo.View attachment 365605,View attachment 365601 From my experience teaching friends to build coils on Kayfun's, the center pin is where they have the most troubles. On my Hcigar Kayfun 3.1 the center pin for air intake is below the deck, on many clones it is above.... Because this pin is so high in some Kayfun's, you need to use a screwdriver to bend the legs of the coil while your lifting the coil, otherwise they are so close they arch when wet and cause fluctuating readings, even if the screws are tight.
The only weird thing that happens to me - and so far only to me - is when I refill it I get all kinds of dry hits. I think I have just the KFL? So the thing is empty or almost empty and I fill it like I'm supposed to - I unscrew the little screw on the bottom, I fill it up (same juice) and then I put the screw back in and BAM dry hit after dry hit.
I have to take it all apart and start over. This makes no sense seeing as it works perfectly with the 1st fill. So I have learned when the tank is empty to basically take off the top cap and put it back on then fill it and this doesn't happen -- I don't get it???
When I first started doing coils in my kayfun lite plus clones, I found those screws maddening. Then I got a vise, and now I put the base in the grips of the vise to hold it immobile while I mount the coil, and it's much easier; no more skittering away from me, or needing 5 hands. I do need to wear the magnifying visor I got at Harbor Freight, though, just to see the tiny lil things, and be able to tell that the wire is actually firmly secured.
For me the only "secrets" were being able to keep the base immobile, and being able to see it clearly. The wicking is actually far more challenging, trying to always get the "right" amount.

Sorry for the slight derail here, but I NEED ONE OF THOSE. I love building coils, but my eyes hate it.

Other than my own fear and resistance, that was my major stumbling block, my extremely poor up-close vision -- I got some 3.25 reading glasses, but it's still not enough for something that small, that close up. Those visors at Harbor Freight aren't expensive at all, I think about $4.99 or something. They do need batteries (AAA) if you want to use the side-mounted lights, but I often don't use those.
They also have the "Helping Hands" magnifier, and that's very helpful for something you just want to look at quickly; the alligator-clips aren't strong enough to hold anything you need to use any force on, but the big magnifier with the smaller ultra-magnifier in it are perfect for those quick "what the hell is this thing doing?" needs.

Sorry you have had trouble. The quality of the clone may be your problem. My authentic is far easier to tighten down than any of my clones, that's one reason for the higher price. I would suggest getting a set of authentic screws and see if that helps (usually the decks are tapped okay but the clone screws are crappy)
