Thanks Kent Brooks (is this you?? haha!) Not bad for a few weeks...
I wanted to give an idea of my build.. words only do so much.. maybe this will inspire an "Ahhh - thats what I need to change" moment for someone...

Regular coil build...Nice. Easy to build.
Chimney build...ehh, flavor loss and process a little time consuming. Wasn't worth the effort.
Shotgun build...warm vape. Probably my favorite build, just not the process.

The chimney works better than standard microcoil on some rbas, but I agree, Kayfun wasn't one of them imo..

I feel like a kayfun master now lol. I guess me having so many issues at first with it helped in the long run. As I can diagnose problems very easy now it seems. Recoiled, re-wicked prolly 10-20 times since I got the "ah=ha" moment, all working perfectly. Currently have some Bryce custard in there (don't freak out my Nico friends, I still vape my CLS daily, just a different kind of custard). Also have been the residential Kayfun builder amongst friends as of late, getting them all set-up.

Lex, your problems with this have really put the brakes on my thinking about getting one. If you can't get it vaping, I doubt I have much of a chance as a noob. Dang.
Glow, I think you can handle it. I'm not sure why lex has been having problems with it. Maybe something is wrong with her kfl. I have one and have had no problems with it at all. I find a higher ohm coil works best on a regulated device. I use 30g and keep my coils around 1.7-2.1. For me the CLS tastes excellent at 2.1.
Scandalex, sounds like you might have a problem besides your build. Check your orings by putting all your parts together and cover the air hole with your finger while you suck hard on your drip tip. The negative pressure from the suction should ba able to hold your lip on the drip tip. If it doesn't and the pressure releases quickly you might have a leak from a faulty oring.
Also, take out your center pin and examine it to make sure that there is nothing in the air passage and that the insulators are seated correctly.
It really shouldn't be hard to get a build running well in the Kayfun. Cotton over the channels is not as sensitive as everyone tends to believe. I place a generous ammount of cotton on the floor of my decks right over the channels. The important part is cotton density. You don't want compressed cotton, you want it to be puffed.

I'm currently using the navy nest, and since I switched to this I get a lot better vapor production. Never had a problem with wicking on a standard build but this works a lot better for me. So good that even after battery died off I was still getting pretty decent vapor, nothing extrordinary but... Figured I should check my battery and it was clear down to 2.8v!!! I normally change them at 3.5 cause production just isn't that good. Think this is my favorite setup now. Always nice saturated hits.

Glow don't let my mess stop you. For now I tossed mine in a box. I rewatched this vid ^ & am feeling a slight bit of motivation to try again.
In the meantime I'm happy with my other stuff so I'm not going to allow the KFL to defeat me.

Mine came with 32g 2.8 ohm pre made coils. After cleaning tried it out, worked good , wicked fine and I was really impressed. Vaped a couple ml then took apart again. I didn't have wire yet so just pulled the prebuilt coil, removed silica and put on 3/32 screwdriver tighted the coils up a bit and rewicked with cotton now at 2.4ohm, reinstalled and BAM easily twice as good and a LOT cleaner tasting. I just plan on modifying the prebuilt coils until I get more wire.
P.S make sure you disassemble everything and clean it really good with dish soap and hot water and get any little nasties out that might be in the threads "I even cleaned with isopropyl alcohol" if not it'll taste like machine oil.
30ga would be good, happy medium. I ordered 32 that way I can just make some twisted wire builds if I want to go lower on my ohms.

@ScandaLeX - shoot some pics as you attempt some builds and post them here - maybe we can see something that will improve the build.
I've done it with & without mesh, cotton & silica. Have built anywhere from 1.3 - 2.2Ω's and so far I'm just not impressed.
Have tried it on ProVari, Zmax & Diablo mech. I've literally built this thing over 15x's with the same results. .. no vapor & muted flavor.
There's not too much stuff in life that kicks my ........ The kayfun did!
For now it's going in the pile with other stuff until I feel motivated again.
About to pop on my Patriot & not give the Kayfun another thought for the rest of the day.

I am saddened you are giving up on it for now, tho I get the feeling. I was the same exact way until I got it figured out. Some pictures would REALLY help diagnose the problem. If you could snap some of the build would go a long way and we can probablly tell you what's going wrong. Kayfun really is one of the best vapes i've had and I hope you come back to it and show it who's boss!
Thank you. I'll post pics when my desire to tackle it returns. For now it's seriously zapped the fun out of me.
