Kayfun lite clone leaking

Just bought a kayfun lite clone from my local b&m store and made my first ever coil. Vaped great (running at 1.5 ohms) only problem is it leaks out of the air intake hole. Tried taking it apart to make sure everything was nice and tight but with the same results. Anyone out there had a similar problem or know how to fix it.

How are you filling it?

Mine tends to leak when the surrounding temperature changes. If I go from somewhere cool to somewhere hot I can expect leaking.

Could be from overfilling , another possibility is your coil being mounted too low or overwicking or a combination of any of these errors .

IME two things cause leaks. One is not a leak and is caused by filling it from the top or over filling it from the bottom. The next is a bad seal at the top of the mod where the chimney seals at the top of the atty. There should be an O-ring there inside the hole on the top of the kayfun.

OH one more possible cause. Your wick should lay on top of the juice channel. If you lay a kayfun on its side for a prolonged time you may flood the chamber also especially if you don't have enough wick in those two wick trays.

is the oring on the chimney tube in place ( inside the top ) ? most commonly overlooked issue when leaks occur out of the air intake hole...

There is yet another overlooked possibility. Look at the top of the deck on the kayfun this is the blocks the screws go into. under the larger (Positive) block you will see a white insulator. Look closely at it where it mounts to the deck can you see any gap there like the hole in the deck is to large for the insulator to cover? if so this is a common leak area. the fix is to loosen the positive pin and slide the insulator to a place where it covers any gaps then retighten holding everything in place. if the insulator wont cover it up no matter what you do, Take a small piece of plumbers tape And put it around the bossed section that goes into the hole in the deck then that should seal it up. don't worry Plumbers tape is safe here. I found this while looking at a few clones that friends have that were leaking at the vent hole. I even had one of my leaking there. the reason it can get pulled into that little gap is because while you hitting the atty its drawing juice to that gap eventually it gets in there and runs out of the vent hole. So far all the Kayfuns I have been able to reposition the insulator on have remained leak free.

Are you blowing it clear after filling? Hold it upside down and blow like crazy. Then wipe it off and you should be ok.

Edit, cover the air hole area with a paper towel or kleenex or something first ... lol

There's an air leak somewhere, bad o-ring, something not seated correctly. I have left a KFL+ laying on it's side for days without it leaking a drop. As a matter of fact, I have never had a leak on my Kayfuns. Not one drop.

If this persists, drain, clean and check all of the o-rings. Put it back together, but do not fill it. Now cover the air inlet hole with your finger, and try to draw on it. There should be nothing, totally air tight. If not, it will leak. Hope that helps.

Edit: Yes, I suppose it could leak if there is insufficient wicking when layed on it's side. I just never have had that issue myself.

I fixed a leak on mine today just like this. I found it while blowing compressed air from a can down the air hole in the top deck. I saw juice flowing out the side under the insulator. I re-aligned everything and it is working leak free now.

I'm going to take some pictures of what this will look like and what you can do to fix it its a fairly common thing I have seen on a few of the clones. Maybe I'll make a thread for it also

Are you filling from the top or bottom? If you're filling from top you need to cut the air hole once you catch the thread on free the air hoke and turn upside down while tightening. This will create the vacuum. May take a few try's to get it right. Not a fan of clones. Not a bargain if it sits on the shelf or costs a fortune in lost juice

No leaking no far since I fixed the insulator and blew it out upside down after filling.
