This is the recipe:

1 kayfun lite plus

Kanthal wire (I ordered 28 & 30 gauge)

ordered kon gen do cotton

the rest, pliers, screw drivers I seem to have. Part of my new quest is to keep it uniform, meaning I will probably just try to stick to mm diameters.

A 3/32 (2.35mm) screwdriver or drillbit to make a 1 - 1.5ohm 28g coil wicked with KGD will get you in the ball park really well. Work from there. ;)

I was wondering will 2.5 mm throw the equation off or would it qualify as part of a different starting point?

Absolutely not. It'll work just as well. For an approximately 1.5 ohm coil, you're looking at around 8 wraps with 28g.

Do you know what kind of ohms you want to hit?

Just saw you will be using it with the MVP2. More than capable or delivering what you need.

Part of my curiosity is that will higher wattage/volts burn your juice into an unhealthy medium, will it just wear your wick faster, and or is it unhealthy period. I just want to make my transition for the better. So I have no clue as far as how high I want to go. Now having said that, I am learning that I like a warm throat hitting vape that resembles more of a cigarette. I apologize for the long explaining but I am so new that I need the best advice to hopefully get the kayfun running to meet my goal thanks again.

Throat hit will depend on the level of nic you're using.

Warmth will depend on the level of heat (watts) you're using.

There's folks safely using very high wattages with different mediums and toppers. For the authentic KFL, I've found it's best to stick 10 - 15W range, based on it's design and build structure.

There are Kayfun clones/counterfeits that have deeper juice wells that can accommodate slightly higher wattages.

On another note, I purchased 30 kanthal due to reading that it would kick start quicker vs. the 28 using an mvp 2 with a kayfun. I am ready to experiment and any similar setup advice is more than welcomed. I apologize if I may seem to get of the subject, please let me know If I am. My questions are derived from the research I have done in comparison to my future setup.

Greetings to all, I am new and a current smoker trying to make the obvious transition. My current setup is the aspire nautilus mini premium kit + mvp2. I am also in the process of finding an ejuice I can count on for flavor/nic level to supplement my addiction to reds.

The reason I am posting on this thread is that after reading everyone's input of their love for the kayfun lite plus I decided to purchase one form intaste and should be receiving it soon. Part of the reason I purchased it is that I figured in the long run it is cheaper to build and control the resistance to one's liking vs. the price of the "hit n' a miss" coils.

Having an understanding that it will be my first rebuild and a learning curve to it (been doing a lot of reading and video watching) will I notice a big difference from the aspire mini to the kayfun once I get the build right? I am not looking for clouds, I just want to replace smoking with vaping so I am searching for flavor and throat hit. I hope I did post in the right thread since I should be part of this group soon haha, Thanks in advance

Welcome aboard MK!

With a K'fun you just can't go wrong :)

Makes sense, I am currently moving my watts up and down on the mvp 2 w/ aspire mini and seem to enjoy the warmer 11 watts. Having said that a little warmer might be ok but not too much, and like you said the nic level which is another thing I am learning about.

So as far as the kayfun, if I get my build right, I should expect more delivery (flavor/nicotine)

You are right, 30AWG will definitely fire-up (and cool down) faster than 28AWG. And is pretty manageable too for making microcoils (tho 28AWG is better at it).

Welcome to ecf, MKID, and welcome to the KFL!

You are exactly on the right track there. You will love the richness of the flavor with the KFL, and I think you are spot on with your initial setup. It is kinda nice to see a Southern CA (wait... are you talking Cali or Canada?) person come in not looking for huge clouds and 80watt drippers. You got good advice from somewhere.

Your hand looks fine to me... shake it... no secrets. ;)
