Hi everyone, I am looking for a mod to go with my kayfun - something variable with cylindrical shape, no more than 22-23mm in diameter and no longer than 4 1/2 inches long. I mostly vape between 2 -2.4 ohms ( at 5 watts or 4 volts max !), therefore I do not need anything fancy. As long as it is reliable and doesn't look like a giant ballistic missile.... I am thinking about a Vamo. Is that a good choice? Is there a mini Provari? I appreciate your thoughts, and thanks in advance.

I'd say, the Vamo with the KFL+ would come out a bit long..? Yeah, there are short ProVaris - the Mini, the Classic in 18350 or 18490 mode, or the latest P3, which comes in all 3 sizes. The shortest, 18350, makes the P3 with a KFL+ only about 6.2 inches long. Many of the KFL+ users just adore it with a ProVari. Both sturdy, reliable. The just work so well together. Buy I assume a KFL+ would work on any decent mod.

The Kayfun does look good on a Mini Provari.

The Vamo can be used in 18350 size keeping it short. I use mine in both 18350 and 18650 sizes. Great mod for a very low price. I paid around $25 for mine in Stainless Steel. Don't get the chrome ones. Heard that some peel.

Thanks ricks; Where did you get yours? Is there any difference in brand of 18350's in term of amps and durability?

I got my V2 from Fasttech a while ago. I don't like the top ring of some newer versions. They don't sit evenly like the V2. Check out what I'm talking about before making your decision.

I prefer smaller mods too...

Not sure why I continue to buy new atty's when these are my go-to devices. I have a KFv4 Clone by Tobeco, Kanger Sub Tank Mini, Zennesis Z-Atty, Link RDA, TOBH Clone, a Hobo Clone (it came with the Le Petit Gros, never been built), and an Orchid v5 by Tobeco (that's never even been built). They pretty much go unused...

@Exchaner;
The overall length of my 2 18350 mods pictured above is ~4". You don't need a regulated mod to get a satisfying vape. I build between 1.2 - 1.4ohms and I can put almost a full tank through those nano's before I need to swap batteries out. For me, a regulated tube mod is just too dang long...

I have tried that route, and it didn't work - mainly because I lack enough skills to build a proper coil to compensate for the lack of control on the mechs. Besides, I am very very picky (or sensitive) to the slightest variations in voltage/wattage. BTW, I love the nano is because it vapes perfect for my taste. Haven't been able to replicate that particular vape in a full size tank - no way, no how. But just in case, what brand mech is in the pic? Sorry, I am a newbie. It looks great with the nano, but I heard it is not a good idea to use a mech with high resistance (2-2.5 ohms) - something to do with excessive heat flux.

If you're about to get a KFL+, most probably you'll be OK with a 20W mod.
There are not that much short, quality, durable tube mods out there. I have a buddy, he wanted a tube mod over anything else, but ended up with an iStick 50W box and is glad he went with it. Battery capacity, overall quality etc.
A short tube will most probably mean shorter battery life.
Speaking about the 18350s, and about batteries as such, high quality authentic batteries is what you should consider. Many use AW batteries and I would suggest them too. For example, the AW 18350 800mah.
What's your vape preference? What are you vaping on right now?

2-2.5 Ohms on a mech would lead to a very low heat flux. Let's say, you give 4 V to the 2.0 Ohm coil with your mech (voltage drop etc.) That would only be 8 W, a very weak and cold vape.
28awg Kanthal A1, single coil on a 2.4mm ID rod, 2.0 Ohms, heat flux on 8W = 71 mW/mm2, for example. You can play with that on Steam Engine.

Exchaner, check out KangerTech's K-Simar 20 18650 tube. I just got one to replace my dead Sigelei 20W. It's a nice piece, well constructed. Only 20W, which works fine for me. Smaller than both the Sigelei and a Vamo. I still like a tube and hope to see a working TC in that format in the future. I typically build a 1.4-1.6 ohm spaced coil with Japanese cotton and vape exclusively NETs at around 11 watts or low 4 volts.

See, that is my problem; I am not comfortable vaping at 8 watts - too hot for me. My comfort zone is 4.8 - 6 watts max (Or 4 volts max) With a variable device I can lower the watts, but not with a mech.

If you're not fond of a ProVari, maybe something like the old eVic.. It all depends on your price range at this point.

I thought I vaped cool.

Same here :2cool:
