I'm wondering, what's the point of the adjustable air flow? I got a nautilus last week, hated it completely. Wide open, I can't tell I'm getting anything; closed even one notch down, burnt taste. So I just don't get why the adjustable air flow seems so great to so many people. I like a fairly tight draw, not airy, but I sure don't like dry hits.

Since I've learned a few things in the past couple months, I got my unused iClear16's back out, filled one, and this time, let it sit for half an hour before trying to use it. It's great! Really tight draw, good heat, but no burnt taste! Granted, my T3S's give a lot more actual flavor, and are slightly airier than an iClear16, but they're still fairly tight-drawing.

I guess I need to know, if I spend pretty decent $$$ for a kayfun, will I get those burnt tastes? I can't seem to find any of the older ones without the air flow control, so how will that airflow control affect a Kayfun?

Everyone has a preference and the adjustable airflow allows people to set how tight their pulls are without having to drill their atomizers.

Back when the Kayfun was my main atty, I ran it with the adjustment screw completely out so that I had air rushing in through the air hole AND the adjustment port. I just prefer airy draws because I take long lung hits and I don't want any resistance on my inhale. But back when I first got my Kayfun and I took mouth hits, I kept my air adjustment tight so that my mouth wouldn't fill up with air too fast. Without air adjustment, the Kayfun would have been too airy for mouth hits and too tight for lung hits and I would have just moved on and gotten a Russian 91% or something.

Well, I don't use the lung hit method for anything except... well, the unmentionable. :D I've always used the mouth-hit method for smoking cigarettes, and now for vaping, because I just get better taste that way -- no tastebuds OR sense of smell in the lungs. I'm just sooooo tired of these dry hits I keep getting, with pretty much anything I put on top of the Sigelei, wondering if it's worth it to get one of these Kayfuns, they cost so much more than anything else I've gotten (even the expensive Nautilus, which I hate hate hate). Can't figure out why the problem is so extreme with the Sigelei, but not with my iTaste vv3's or the eGo-C Twist I picked up as a cheapie backup battery.

I keep the air flow screw all the way in, and then loosen by one half turn. It wasn't that expensive, got it on eBay. The main reason I asked about the difference is that I wanted to pick up a couple of rebuild kits with the screws, o-rings, etc. (Yes, stock piling a bit) The store I found has the kits for the Kayfun Lite, but makes no mention as to whether the kits also fit the Lite Plus.

I've been vaping for quite a while now and I'm a flavor hound. It's priority #1 for me. Been through EVODs, RSSTs (which I like), MTS3/T3, VivaNova, AGA-T, PT 1&2, and Carto tanks. Either the flavors were muted or the flavor was great but only held a couple MLs. They all were good in some way, but lacking in others. Man, I dont know what the deal was with cartos, leak and gurgle, always.
Fast forward to receiving my KFL+(clone) a few days ago. Threw a 28ga 7-wrap micro with a loose roll of cottom cheesecloth in it, and I must say this is the ONE for me. I dont normally go for metal tips, but this is SS, so it doesn't seem to impart a metallic taste.
Easy to build and fill, tastes great, lots of vapor, looks great, $40......can't beat it. Looking to buy another.

Tighten the air flow screw till it stops whistling. :)

This is my first RBA as well. I use a double twisted 32ga with 7 wraps and cotton as well. I love it. I have custom drip tips from a vendor here on the site, as the SS tip was just a bit wobbly. Can't decide whether to pick up another, or maybe a 91%...at least at the moment. When I find something that works, I usually get a spare.

I love my Ehpro Lite+, and the price was really good. The air flow control is mostly used to control the amount of juice being fed to the wick and coil; ie. tighter draw feeds more juice. I run mine mostly wide open with 50-50 juice. There is a slight learning curve with the Kayfuns as far as wicking them properly, but it is pretty easy to do and get the hang of. Mine has fantastic flavor, and it has never leaked, not one drop. Never a dry hit either when wicked properly with cotton. If you don't own one, you really owe it to yourself to get one. Mine cost $38 on EBay.

Kayfun Lite Plus advantages:
Adjustable Center pin (at least on the clones)
Adjustable Air flow

Your Aspire makes no sense. The more air flow is restricted the more e-liquid is drawn to the wick. placing a finger over an air hole and drawing can result in a flooded wick.
You should give it another try with it set on the next to smallest hole and a bit less power.
You must also always consider your e-liquid flavors. some will quickly give a burnt taste at a to high power setting.

Sigelei? Telescopic?
Do you have it in RMS mode? Makes a Huge difference.

Wow... for some reason, it was in "mean" mode -- why would it be? Everything I've read says that "RMS" is better, so why would the factory default be "Mean"? And yes, telescopic, v3... I love it in telescoped mode, that bottom segment fits my hand PERFECTLY.

It does make a big diff, at least with the T3S I have on it at the moment. I was having to use it in "voltage" rather than "power" mode to get it low enough that I could actually use it; even at 6w, it was too hot for the T3S, even with 3 priming puffs before I hit the fire button. After I switched it to RMS, at 3.5v I couldn't get anything! So I switched it back to Power mode, and now I can set it at 7w and not get a burnt taste!

As for the Nautilus, if the burnt taste was the only issue with it, I might give it another try. However it also changed the taste of my favorite (really, *only*) e-juice to a taste I didn't even like, even when I put it on the eGo-C Twist and set it at 3v. I don't switch flavors, except in the morning I use an apple-cinnamon mix that has no TH, because I can't take TH in the morning. Otherwise, I vape Virginia all day every day, and can't really stand any other flavors I've tried. So I guess I'm going to try and sell the Nautilus, for whatever I can get for it. It's nearly new, used only a few hours, and it's definitely a genuine Aspire, I checked the number.

I really appreciate you reminding me to check the RMS/Mean -- I had no idea it was set that way, or that it would make that big a difference! Now maybe I can finally get some serious use out of this sigelei! :thumb:

Thx!!!!!
