I love that mod. It hits noticeably harder than pretty much every other mech I've used. I've side by side tested it to a brass limitless, copper limitless, rig v2, AV brass Able & a few others. I have a few sets of VTC4's & used them in each mod to keep things fair, but this sub zero is something else man, even with a top contact. Well, the positive contact is actually at the bottom of the mod, manual says to put the battery in + facing down.

Sounds good, thank you for the feedback.

It's definitely a beautiful mod

So for those of you who haven't heard of Pourboy Customs, I just enquired about one of these caps for my K24.

Would make life easier for a lot of us if he makes a run of these

I got the quotes on pricing, I'm most likely gonna go copper or heat treated Ti, or a combo of both, like heat treat Ti chamber & Copper top. But the price on full copper is $95, price on full Ti is $125. I may have to sell my beta (shorty) cap. I don't know anyone else that has a short K24 cap like my beta pre-release cap, so I'm sure I could get a pretty penny for it

I was wondering something and figured you Kennedy freaks might know

Do the standard, Dragon drip tips that come with the K24 fit the Dragon caps of the OG/K22? There are some pretty sweet acrylic drip tips on eBay, but they are for the 24, and I have the 22.

Thanks!
A dragon cap is a dragon cap. They should fit the cap they're made for.

About to finally pull the trigger on a purchase from Kennedy :)

So - Ruby mod or K24 and a Round House? I know the pros and cons for each, just wanted to hear some opinions.

ALSO throwing around the idea of a Sub Zero Shorty and a K24, but I love the the look of those Kennedy mechs.

Thoughts?
I can only attest to the subzero mod and the K24 atty itself. I have a legendary switch on mine, it's a fantastical mod. Hits like a freight train.
The Kennedy 24 on its own is an amazing atty. I'd assume you'd be getting the copper deck, to go with a roundhouse mod or a subzero. The subzero's switch is probably the most complex on the market, while the roundhouse and the ruby are the most simplistic. Also, the silver plated contacts on the subzero do make a difference. If you're going direct to battery, you're connecting copper (atty/switch) to whatever the battery is made of which I believe is a nickel mix. It's up to you, do you want simplicity, a hybrid, or a mod with a top contact?

Ruby...or K24 and a Roundhouse?
I went K24 + Roundhouse as I like to mix up toppers. With the Ruby, rewicks/rebuilds take the mod out of commission. With the Roundhouse, I can toss on another top and continue vaping while performing maintenance. Also, it is more difficult to assess experimental builds (e.g. double twisted 317L wrapped with titanium) on a Ruby as the only way to verify resistance is by way of a ohm/multimeter. Moreover, ohm/multimeters under $500 which read down to the hundredths are far and few in between (if there are any at all). However, if you have a spare K24, this becomes a moot point.
...whatever the battery is made of which I believe is a nickel mix...
Technical specifications for LG/Sony/Samsung indicate that cell cylinders are of nickel-plated steel.

Disassembled button of the Kennedy Roundhouse:

That's a pretty sexy mod. I may have to pick one up. Just for simplicity's sake.

Subzero partial disassembly. With the shorty switch you'd see the same internal silver plated clutch plate, contact, & top contacts. Minus the lock ring & stuff inside the button housing. This mod gets warm with low ohm builds but NEVER gets hot button. Also, the manual says that positive down on the battery is better than positive up though you can use it both ways. They claim it's because the venting holes are all in the switch & batteries vent through the positive cap if they were to vent.

Edit: only problem I've had with my subzero is green-hand. I've fallen asleep with it in my hand a few times and the copper turned my hand green haha. I like my self made "fingerprints" patina work I've unintentionally been doing to the copper.

Sorry to hijack the thread guys, but I value all of your opinions, strangely :thumb:

Which would you choose:
  • Sub Zero Shorty (all colors) & K24 (all finishes + black and an orange) = $259.77 (Instant gratification, local shop close to my office)
  • Ruby (copper or stainless) = $179 (probably get it next Wednesday or Thursday)
  • Roundhouse (copper or stainless) + K24 (all finishes + black) = $192.60 (same ETA)
I sure would love to have a toy to play with this weekend (wife is going out of town), but those are some pretty sweet deals!
