Ok so I got my Kensington Power Pack as an early Holiday gift last night. I charged it over night and took it to work with me today. Now I vape pretty much constantly at work. Everyone here knows and no one cares :D I just checked the battery read out as its getting close to closing time and I have burnt through over a mL of juice. The dang thing still has all 5 leds lit!!!! WOW! This thing will last for DAYS on a single charge at this rate! :D:D:D
Long story short: if any of you have been thinking of getting one... ITS WORTH IT!!!! $50 on amazon with shipping and the best and simplest "battery mod" I could ask for!

Don't want too pee in your cherrios but there is a less expensive and simpler battery mod.

This box for $3.95 holds 4 AA batteries and includes a on/off switch and USB port. Just add 4 recharchable AA Ni-mh 1.2V cells and your off and running. Of course you would need AA charger but most of us have this already. I've been using one for a while and it works great with my pass through. :)

hehe no pee got in my bowl... I have been using the power pack the OP mentioned since almost the begining of my vaping experience and it definately is a quality unit and @ 1800 mah it does last long

but I will have to check that out and see how the NI's hold out especially since the mah is longer.... thanks for the info

I didn't know those batteries were suitable. I looked at them because it's so close to the "magical 5 volts" everyone talks about, but I don't want to disrupt the space-time-continuum or anything...

What kind of pass through works well with this setup? I haven't had much luck with the ones I've bought, they seem wimpy and stop working in no time (I vape constantly).

Don't mean to hijack the thread. I've been using the vapor4life auto pass through and the KR808D-1 cartos, and can't get enough of it. Usually have 3 going at once and switch off between them. You are correct about the 5V. With a full charge under load they run 4.8V but after a while they settle down to 4.4 to 4.5V and will run at that voltage all day long.

I'm working on adding a battery monitor to tell me when to pull the batteries and throw a fresh set in. Ni-mh does not like to fall below 0.9-1 volt per cell or they'll croak and never come back. If you go this route and notice crappy vapor then time to swap in a fresh set of batts.

I took that same box and re-wired it for 4 TR14500's in series. 900 mAH ea. for a total of 3600mAH, and tucked a TI booster under the circuit board for pure 5V output. Works great and lasts a couple of days on 1 charge.8-o

Is that how you use it, with a PT? How does the PT hold up for you, and how does it hit compared to 3.7 volts?
I haven't tried what Charged
recommended yet, but I don't see an issue except how fast Ni would drain using it as a work horse hehe...

but I have been using my Kensington for all my PT needs :D no problems yet,,,,

I can pretty much tell when they need to go with the vapor fall off. I checked with a meter once but can't remember what it read. I'll check this time.
