Hi there!

I got a KFL clone, and have a small issue (besides the horrible whistling).

It vapes ok, except every now and then it starts feeling dry, and I have to cover most of the air hole, and take a few sharp drags to wet the wick.

I use about 1.5ohm microcoils, with a rolled cotton wick. Just enough wick to reach the bottom of the well, without obstructing air. 50/50 juice.

How can I improve wicking in it? Ould widening the channels help? And is there any other solution? With a dremel, it will get ugly :)

Thank you!
Commie

I had to file out juice wells in one of mine. I think I'm going to do it with all of them. Not quite as large as the one on right, but around the middle of both. I'm surprised that the one on left worked at all(tobeco 91).

I just filed them out to where I can't see that slight bevel that goes around deck by evap chamber.

Edit-i also cover up the channel.. without packing too much with cotton.

You may have too much cotton or is rolled too tight. That could sometimes restrict the juice flow. Also I find that having too short of wick tail can cause dry hits. My wick tails are right at the juice channel not away from it.

Agree........

Again, agree.

You pack it somewhat tight and it will do what your talking about....

You dont cover the juice channels with your cotton...will leak.

I put a rather large amount of cotton in mine, but it is LIGHTLY layered......works well. Have the Rocket, Tobecco, HCigar, and whatever FT sells.... (3.1)

I've had good results makig my wicks look like that.
Lay them over the juice channels, but don't stuff them into it.

Great pics!

Have ya considered rotating your coil horizontally 180°? That would minimize the chance of the chamber 'catching' and 'unwrapping' your wick during installation.

I like that style, but i usually have to pull wicks out where they spin with evap chamber anyway. Since I might have to do that anyway, I cut wick just a hair longer than evap chamber while it's on, and just push them down before saturating.
Exactly this is how I do it. Just a trouble free process which I think is one of the strong points why this is one of the best atty.

Thanks.
Yea, I have fooled with it, but for some reason I find it much easier to coil in that direction.
I guess it's just the way the leads wrap under the screws while the coil is oriented like that.
I get less coil twist while tightening the screws.
I'll sacrifice having to fool with wick position for ease of coiling.
It's the lesser of 2 evils for me. =)
Maybe it's just the tools I am using, or my gigantic hands, but I just find it easier.
