Hey everybody, Cleaned and assembled my new hcigar nemesis yesterday, which is vaping beautifully- however I can't get it to fire with my Kick 2 installed. All the tubes are in place, the gold pins are making contact. I'm running a KFL clone at 1.6 ohms, Sony VTC 4 18650, and the nemesis will fire fine with just the battery or a short stop fuse installed. Any ideas? Thanks!

Update: it fires if I take out the 4mm ring, however I have more exposed switch threads than I would like, and I was under the impression that all tubes/rings should be in place in this configuration. Is the switch ok a little bit backed out? I know from reading that the actual pin itself is NOT adjustable, yet some people use it as an adjustment anyways. I'm trying to set mine up with the silver switch contact screwed in all the way.

Sounds like it's a simple assembly issue.

Follow these steps.

#1. Remove the top cap and loosen the contact pin. Inset your topper until it's snug, but not tight. Screw in the contact pin until it's nice and snug.

#2. Screw the cap on to the Kick ring with the polished 4mm ring attached. Insert the Kick (Make sure the white adjustment dial faces AWAY from the battery towards the topper) and press it in until it makes contact with the pin in the cap.

#3. Screw on the battery ring(s) and insert the battery.

#4. On the button, press the black ring down so the contact pin is exposed. Make sure the contact pin is screwed in nice and snug. It should not be loose or wobbly at all.

#5. Screw the button until it's snug against the battery.

After that it should work fine. It sounds like you simply had a loose contact somewhere, probably between the Kick and the contact pin.

If that works and you want to move that 4mm ring to a different section then it's safe to do so. It's just easier to set it up the first time if you attach it to the Kick ring. The Kick should come down into that 4mm ring.

I have the brass/stainless from Vape Royalty. I can get it to fire two ways:

-Shortstop fuse works great with 4mm ring and removal of kick ring.

-Kick 2 fires great with removal of 4mm ring and kick ring in place, but the switch doesn't screw in all the way.

I'd prefer to use the kick 2 rather than the fuse, but with both the 4mm ring and kick ring, the switch throw is too short to make contact. Removal of the 4mm ring- it fires, but I have a switch housing unthreaded to the point of it being loose while firing.

I could "solve" the problem by backing out the negative contact a bit, an using the kick 2 with both rings, but I've read that you shouldn't do that. It's supposed to be screwed in tight.

Hope that makes sense, an I appreciate the help.

AHA!!!!!!

Take your switch out. Press the black ring down, and tighten the silver contact pin as tight as you can get it.

I'll bet that contact pin is really loose and sticking out a couple of mm. With it tight you should be able to put the 4mm ring back on and have it work.

It's the other "Vape Royalty" edition with real brass rather than plated.

I have the button contact snug. Snug as can be. If my little black button donut was a hair shorter, I'd be in good shape.

Like I said, if I take out that brass ring I'm in business. I don't know if there's a hard rule about how many thread turns your switch should safely have in the tube, but it is threading and it will fire.

I have to head out to work here, but I'll try to post some pictures later.

Are you using button top or flattop batteries?

I've got the exact same setup. Hcigar Nemesis, 2 tone stainless steel with a Kick2. Everything fits absolutely perfect, USING BUTTON TOP BATTERIES.

But, if you take out 1.5-2mm of button top, I can see how that would cause problems. My button has about a 2mm throw, if it were a flattop I wouldn't have enough throw to make contact.

I hate to say it, but if you're using flattop batteries then the best solution may be to change to button top.

Yep, that's a flattop battery.

I just compared the amount of throw on my button to one of my old Efest button top batteries, and I think this is the answer.... Take that button top away and you would have less than 1mm of throw.

I know with my flat tops in order to get the button placement, the way I liked I had to switch the pin on the top and bottom for each other. one pin was longer and one was shorter. Since then I have no problems. try doing that and see if it helps, my next upgrade will be copper pins instead of the stainless

That is interesting, I never knew the pins were different.

Another alternative may be to get new pins from someplace like Fatdaddy Vapes, but considering the price and availability of the batteries the new pins would probably be more expensive and take longer to receive. If switching the pins around doesn't work then perhaps some new button top batteries are in order.

at least mine were since it had the floating center pin, it was a tad longer no more then 2mm or so. when I first recieved it I tore the whole thing down, gave it a cleaning and installed the magnets. Tried with the original config but 3 magnets gave it no throw. So I figured let me try switching the pins and walla.

I use the sony flat tops in my nemesis with a Kick2 I use the extra beauty ring and it took some fiddling to get it to make contact But it does work with the flat top batteries :) I had to push it up from the bottom of the Kick extension or it will get get stuck in the threading

Have the same issue with my Hcigar nemmy clone and vtc4 batteries. To short with the small 4mm ring, and sticks out too far without the ring, although it will fire sticking out...just looks like crap.

I was able to use a small magnet to make it fit perfectly...but be careful of it moving around and causing a short if you go that route.

Thanks for the help so far.

Could be a dumb question, but since I'm well within the amp limits of both my fuse, battery, and kick, could I just toss the fuse in there with the kick 2? I know it's redundant, but it would solve my space issue and I wouldn't have to buy batteries. I keep my kayfun builds between 1.3 and 1.6.
