Just a rant. Sorry for the length...but am I in the wrong?

No, you were in the right, both legally... and socially IMO.

Unresolved issues, kept hidden by a gluttony of media and busy work, perpetuated and propogated as reasonable reactions, growing and worming it's way from one mind to the next, justifyable through the shared sense of validation it brings them.

Here in NC, there's been a total ban on smoking at indoor establishments (unless you like hanging out at the VFW or Lions Club, which are exempt). I have a friend who vapes and he tells me that people get ANGRY... especially when they find out it's NOT a cigarette. "That's not fair!"

Typical security goons have a bad penis-size to ego ratio.
Lol, I'm going to have to start using that.

Overall it could of been resolved if you had explained it the first time when she asked, but excluding that they did handle it a little crazy. For some people, even when they are proven wrong, they still have to try and take control and act like they are right.

Sunday afternoon I took my grandchildren to see the Tooth Fairy. I pulled my Little Chuck out which does not have a light on the end and vaped it. Instead of blowing the vapor out I blew it in my blouse. There was nothing visible. No one said anything about it and they didn't even notice it.

I would not have used my 510 with a light on the end and blow the vapor where anybody could see it. I feel like I would have been reported for smoking and I do not like explaining what it is because it has what looks like smoke and most people assume it is a cigarette.

Personally, I don't think you should eve have to justify yourself in the manner many people are expressing in this thread. You were asked a question by the RA, and you answered it. In my eyes you don't have to do anything beyond that. I understand that the residence is their world and their jurisdiction, and by that definition it's their way or the highway. That doesn't mean if you were asked about smoking that you have to strip naked, empty your pockets and deliver a half hour case validating your answer. She did her job by alerting security of a possible wrong-doing, you did yours by explaining what happened when you were asked to explain. The only fault here is the bored security guard who has (unfortunately) had to deal with far too many snotty, sarcastic drunk students (like myself) and immediately puts up the bull.... shield.

No one got shot, so I call "no big deal" on this. Good on ya for being polite, I find I'm not always capable of that... :)
