Got a Kicked REO Grand Update. I tried the Kick in the Grand without an eraser mod, and it was having trouble staying put. Eraser Mod is in place.
Took Grand apart and used the delrin piece as a guide to drill the hole for the feeding tube in the eraser. Took trial and error and I erred on the side of caution, never trimming the exact amount that I thought I should, always less. When I got it completely done, I would try to fit it in, and it kept taking it out to trim until it fit perfectly. This took at least an hour, but I am very methodical.
Used painters tape to cover the inside of the grand, and left a small square where I thought the Kick was most likely to hit. Used a small medium sandpaper square that I had folded up. The Dremel (or at least mine) is overkill for this application, and will not fit in the area provided, unless you take the REO apart. Worked it till I saw a shine, then went down to fine sandpaper. Removed the tape and was left with a small square of finish removed.
Got a meter and checked that I was getting ground out of the location and it was very solid. Using the wire method I did not get this kind of solid ground out of the devise, this thing is really meant to be grounded to the side of the device.
Used it like that for a couple of days, and things were all good, yet a little inconsistent. Even with the Kick in place with the ground in the side, and the eraser mod, I was getting a slight shifting that was changing the vape. It was still working, volt meter was correct, but it was just not hitting correctly...almost like the feeling you get when the battery is dying, just quicker bursts, so you barely notice.
Today I got out my Cape Cod Polishing Cloth and cleaned the KICK top, bottom connection, and it shined up better than it was from the factory. Shined up the inside of the mod where I had exposed the Aluminum, then I hit all these connections with the DetoxIT cleaner and then the Gold, that came with my DetoxIT kit from Radio Shack, including my REO top connection point and REO spring . Then after wiping all of that off, I put Noalox back on the top REO battery connection, and applied Noalox to the inside of the REO where the Kick hits.
After doing this (perhaps somewhat overkill) my vapes are much more consistent.
All seems well with the world, I am using my 2.5ohm 510 Ikenvape SS Cannon Rev2, and a SS Super T 801 T-Tip, KBV Rootbeer 12mg30/70 VG/PG with Xtra flavor, and I am a happy camper.
I have found that the setting that I like, many have spoken about...turn it all the way up and just a quarter turn back. I am getting 4.8V under load on my STD resistance atomizers (as the Kicker only works under load) every time. I know we all sing the praises of AW and that is all I will ever buy, but I happen to get some NHaler Purple Kicker 1600mah High Drain batteries with my Kick, and they are out lasting and IMO out performing my AW's. Might be the higher Mah, or that might be an inflated Mah, as I have heard about, but I like them so far, so don't be scared of them!
