I just got a letter from our isp saying to knock it off with the copywritten content. I think my cousin has been hooked up to the wrong router when using kodi on his laptop.

I usually only see that from Comcast when Torrents are involved.
He doesn't do torrents. But trust me if I'm looking at copyrighted content without the vpn, my IP is out there for the world to see, gov't agencies like to monitor these things sometimes and then would get my personal info via my isp. If that happens and the isp is notified by gov't agency, they send a cease & desist, that's the least of the punishments they're required to do, otherwise they're held partially liable, which they don't want. usually we'll just have to sign an agreement saying "I won't do it again".
Another way which is far simpler is they see that I'm doing a whole lot of streaming, and investigate on their end, then send me a cease & desist. Then again, some like my old one (cox) instead of warning you, like to just watch you, build up a bunch of evidence (to cover their asses I'm guessing, and hit you with it all at once.
Again, that's only if for some reason I'm not using the VPN, but it happens, people make mistakes. Ofc not me though [emoji28] maybe once, by accident.
I got out of the last one by playing the idiocy card & saying that a neighbor must have been using out wifi without permission, since we lived in a big apartment building, but im pretty much never allowed to use cox again.
Idc personally though lol, fiber optic is probably going to put them out of this area.

Me too. Downloading is illegal in the states but streaming is perfectly legal. (so far)
Yeah thats what I'm thinking also Gary. I used to get emails I was using too much when I had a residential acct but since I went business I'm paying through the nose but no more data caps. That was my understanding also no DLing but streaming was fine. Comcast wants you to use their services. None of their business.
Might have to do with the location you are at also. They probably watch stuff pretty close there.
No...I bought it straight from EliteMods! Manny already tried to set it up...but on the other nogood tv that was missing a major component..i.e. the WiFi!
He spent over 2 hrs. with me and it! ( don't mention that on the SS1 site, tho...as he asked me not to)

Not yet...today or tomorrow, so i'm waiting to do the initial set-up till it gets here...maybe then the whole process will go smoother!
BTW....I OOKLA'd my pc...it's DOWNLOAD:53.17 mps...and the UPLOAD is: 5.78 mps...and the PING is: 8 ms.

So I got my dad a Nvidia box for his bday and was installing kodi for him, got it all set up and whatnot, for some reason I decided to check it again, 90% of addons and repo's gone, just spent an hour fixing everything. Not the first time this has happened to me either... First on an Android box though.

If a government agency informs them or asks for information about one of their customers they are kind of legally forced into sending you a cease & desist.
The last time this happened was when my roommate at my old place used kodi without the vpn to watch star wars the force awakens before it came out.

I have had add-ons disappear, and then magically reappear a week or two later.
Exodus is usually all I ever use though. Have found that RD will deactivate on it if it isnt used often enough. The box in my bedroom loses activation, but I dont watch it much.

This is exactly why I just use Netflix and Hulu, spending an hour fixing stuff is not something I want to deal with when I trying to relax.I can sure relate
