well , she took 4 ounces of milk about an hour ago and so far so good. Fingers crossed that she's over the worst of it now.

I've just come back downstairs from helping the missus out with the babes, seems that milk didnt want to stay down...man this is day 3 and getting silly , We may well see that trip to A&E tommorow..

So so sorry that the poor little mite has this awful thing. For an adult it is bad enough, but for a mere baby, it is dreadful. She should be in hospital, but I know they won't do it. Praying that she gets better very soon. This really isn't right.

I don´t know about yours, but being in hospital here is sheer hell for a baby. Many times better to cure at home, if possible. Like... IV for rehydration, OK, but... means four-point restraint for the toddler... I would go crazy if they bound me up for hours like that... Not understanding what and why happens to you... The staff always irritated by too much work, not doing anything if they can get away with that, often yelling at little patients... Using adult doses of Diazepam (Valium, 5-10 mg) on kids to keep their mouths shut... Parents/grandparents having to do shifts with their children sitting at the bed caring for its non-life-threatening needs and overseeing that the life-threatening are cared for properly... When it´s over, the family is completely and utterly exhausted...

I would try to solve it at home if possible. With medical help, if necessary, but at home. Enough stress from the disease for the kid, hospital just aggravates it.

I take your point Frankie, but I used to be a nurse and it was different then. Now, I am not so sure. The NHS is rubbish. Yes, apo keep her at home if you can.

oh no doubt we'll keep her at home as much as possible, ther is certainly more bugs in the local hospital than here at home. A trip there would be last resort.

Anyways, today has been a little better, she's only been sick once today and she's taking milk a little better..

Thank God. It is said to be very short ilness, so with a bit of luck it is already over and she will just need time to recover from weakness of all that throwing up.

so far so good kate , she's been sleeping quite a bit today but she's holding things down better than yesterday so hopefully tommorow will be even better.

That sounds much better. Dehydration is the main thing to be careful of as far as I know so if she is taking fluids and keeping them down my guess is that the worst is over.

It'll take the poor mite a few days to get over it, sleeping is probably the best you can expect. At least that means she is not too uncomfortable.

I'm not too old to forget the feeling of utter helplessness when your babies are sick. My "babies" are 21 and 18 now, but I still remember the Flu - high fever, puke, and panic!!!

It sucks out loud when family gets sick around Christmas time. I hope they get over it, and you manage a Merry Christmas anyway!

ahh she's been ok today. Still not taking her full count of milk but what she is taking is staying where it should

Still gonna take her to the GP tommorow just to give her a little check-up and make sure it's nothing other than the virus....
