thanks again for all the great information. Two of my friends have ordered 510's from CigNot and one is buying his wife an 808 this sunday from V4L Hopefully they will take advantage of the sale. I will try and find a coupon code as well.

V4L just got in some new "premium" cartomizers yesterday from a different manufacturer. I ordered some last night, looking forward to seeing how they work. At any rate, your friend might want to add a pack of those to his order.

I use several models including the 510 and the Kr8. I find each has its place. None of them are perfect, and none of them are terrible. It all depends on what it is that you want at the time. They all have their place.

;)

Very well said, and an excellent conclusion to a long and informative thread :) Technology in the PV market hasn't given us a "perfect" device yet, so we need to weigh out pros and cons and find what personally does the trick. If you don't mind sacrificing some performance if it means you can have better battery life, lots of liquid in your carts, and a generally fiddle-free experience, grab a KR8  If you don't mind tinkering to get a more fulfilling vaping experience, go 510. Want 510 performance with great battery life, grab an eGo. More performance yet? Get a mod ;)

The joy of this hobby is the diversity, and it's fun to stack these devices up side by side so that folks can make an informed decision on which would compliment themselves the best. Vape on:D

I dont believe that the 510 is cheaper at all as you have to buy lots more parts. I saw where someone put a list of what to buy for a 510 the other day in new members section and it added up to $100.

I wish I knew where you were shopping to get that price .. a full two ecigs -- thats two batteries and two atomizers -- with a charger and 5 filled carts costs an astounding $35 at cignot.com ....

I didnt make up that list. It was posted in the new members forums and dont remember the title or i would certainly link it. The person listed all the supplies needed for the 510, including atties, stuff to mod the cartridges, etc. Since I dont own a 510, I have no idea how accurate that is and I clearly stated that I read it in the forums meaning I dont personally know that information is fact. I do know for a fact that you dont have to buy all that extra stuff for a kr8 since I own one. However the 510 sounds perfect for people that like to tinker with stuff, im just not one of those people :)

The 510 is a cheap device to own. How is it fair to say you NEED to spend $100, sure you can get a passthrough, pcc and a couple starter kits for that, but then you aren't comparing apples to apples vs. a v4l kit where you just get a STARTER kit. If your unsure about something you read, try not to repost it, may misinform folks ;) To start, you need $35 bucks, period.

Ok, I’m just about to make my very 1st purchase on these e cigs but I would like to know a few things to make the right purchase.

I read some good stuff about these 510 batteries but I probably will not have time to be cleaning and dripping seeing that I’m always on the go… I just think cartomizers are the best fit for me.

Now, if I buy an auto 510 battery w/ a small adapter will it affect the vapor production by decrease it? If so, will it be worth getting a 510 at all or will the auto KR808 battery do the job?

Any advice would be great.

I personally prefer the cartomizers on the 510 battery with an adapter. I don't notice any decrease in vapor, but I do notice a decrease in throat hit (which I prefer). I also found the 808 shorties to have a bit of a hard draw.

Again, getting the starter kit from cignot for $35 is a deal and you're getting a good product. You can get an adapter for cartomizers if you want to use them but you'll find that the 510 atomizer is a real champ as far as vapor production and flavor for the tobacco flavors and stronger flavors. The next step would be to get either a few mega batteries or go to an inexpensive mod like the Bartleby - the cartos adapter would work on those as well, but my guess is you'll get more enjoyment from using the 510 atty and the carts and they are not nearly the hassle than some will say. Quite simple really, and if you're going to be refilling cartomizers anyway rather than spending money on only new ones then you're still ahead with the 510. Make sure it's a Joye 510 if you go that way... which is what cignot sells.

The Kr8 batteries last longer than the 510 batteries. I do have adapters for putting cartomizers on my 510s, but I don't use them anymore. I have the Kr8 batteries now and they work much better for me.

I think I'm gonna try the 510 battery w/ a 510>KR808 adapter. And see if I agree with Deena.

I think this person has it backwards. They may be thinking that atty means battery, when it actually means atomizer. So I think most people agree that the optimum smoke stick is a KR808 XL battery with a 510 adapter to fit a 510 atomizer.

I would also add using a VG Juice produces more vapor and while some prefer the PG, most I have read prefer the VG juice. Americaneliquidstore.com is in the USA that sells everything to make your own juice with tons of flavors. I have heard great reviews about them.

The PG vs. VG is a personal preference thing, I have not tried VG but many love it, so give both a shot/try mixing and find what you like best. Rule of thumb states that VG produces more vapor while PG gives a better throat hit. VG is also more viscous (thicker) and has more of a sweet taste to it.

You've got the part about the 510 atomizer + KR8 battery correct, it is the optimum for "true" 3.7v vaping in a cigarette-like device.

Welcome to the forums, looks you've been reading and learning so far
