KR808D vs. eGo or both...

All,

I think I have narrowed my search down to these two ecigs (thanks in a large part to you all).

I am shopping for myself and my GF. We would both like to quit analogs eventually. We both smoke Camel Menthol silvers. I smoke about a pack a day and she smokes a bit less than that per day. I have one friend with a blu and I have tried a smoking everywhere at the mall. That would be the extent of my experience. But, for what it's worth, I liked the blu better. We are open to an ecig that is larger than an analog. But, not open to something really big. We both work 8-10 hour days and would need a setup that could get us through our day and then be able to recharge and replenish once we get home. I don't want to start a collection of these...I hope to get lots of use out of what we choose.

SO... some questions before I pull out the wallet. I truly appreciate all of your help and advice.

Would you get 2 of a single model or would you get one of each?

Should I be buying starter kits? (possibly a dumb question but i thought I'd include it)

Will both of these do cartomizers, atomizers with cartridges, and drip? (with the right accessories of course)

What is the battery life of each? - I'm familiar with cell phone technology how about standby and active

What is the cartridge / cartomizer capacity of each in terms of cigarettes or a pack?

what is the long term cost differences (ie: batteries go dead, atomizers, cartridges / cartomizers)?

Which KR808D is best?

Which eGo / Riva / Hello is best?

Which dealer is good for both / either?

Am I asking all the wrong questions?

Am I completely off track here?

i started off with an xhale from 7-11 and it was enough to get me off of analogs. but i just got my ego from freedomsmokeusa last night and put my xhales up on shelf for now. Im vaping 30mg juices from FSUSA and I strayed away from menthol and regular (but i do have bottles of both) cause i was getting sick of cigarette taste (one of the reasons I am not vaping).

the go is bigger then my xhale (obviously) but the battery life in about 6 hours for my vaping (it hasent died yet on me though sence its new). Also the ego has a manual battery and only lets out juice when the led button is depressed so it will save you some life in the long run. Whats nice is it came with 2 batteries, 2 mega attys, 5 carts, a drip tip, wall and usb charger.

So buying an ego kit will give you and your GF each thier own PV.

I am still a newbie so I havent researched other pv's but everyone raves about the ego which is why i purchased mine. but i atleast have my xhale which i can keep in the truck for emergencies (I dont use xhale carts i just drip the atty... but it is very harsh but i get my nic).

my ego was 71 bucks about out the door with shipping... but i also ordered carts and got a free sample of 24 mg blackjack bubblegum tossed in.

the ego will take mega attys and 510 attys. both carts and cartos. the mega cart hold 1.8ml of juice (i think)... which will last a long enough for a day at work... but carry a small bottle of juice to top off and get more vapor when it starts running low... just in case. a 5ml bottle is pretty small or carry a 3ml bottle... those are tiny.

Welcome to ECF! I have both the KR808 and the eGo. I like them both. I bought the KR8 first and the batteries were only lasting a couple of hours, then I would have to recharge them. The eGo I can chain vape for 5-6 hours before one goes dead. This is all still pretty new to me to I am really enjoying it and vaping more than I smoked.

1. The eGo is a three piece device that uses a battery atomizer and cartridge. But you can also purchase cartomizers for it. I use a mega cartomizer with my eGo. There are also 510 cartos available.
2. The Kr8 is a two piece device consisting of a battery and cartomizer.
3. I cannot positively tell you what cartridge to analogs would be as far as how many analogs. Everyone smokes differently and they vape differently.
4. The Riva seems to me to be the same device as the eGo just a different brand and it is less expensive than the eGo. I paid around $50 for my eGo litecigusa but I've heard that libertyflights has the Riva for around $30. I got my Kr8 from myvaporstore and it was around $30 as well. These are the vendors that I've used except for libertyflights but have only heard good things about them.
5. Yes I would start with a starter kit in my opinion just to ensure that you have everything that you need to start vaping. Make sure to get some juice to try and blank carts or cartos whichever you choose.

that is a whole bunch of analogs!!!! im at 23 days and 349... i thought i was a big smoker... but sometimes i plow through packs... especially when fishing

I've been vaping for a month. DSE901 which is similar to 808.

Learnings:

3 piece units battery, atty, cartridge are superior to cartomizers for refilling $$$$$$
Blank cartridges for 3 piece units are cheap, last log time and easy to fill
Filled cartridge is 3-4 cigs worth, then drip more into cart - easy
Don't run carts dry, keep them topped up
Auto batteries are sensitive to overfilling and can fail. Store with LED tip up.
180 ma batteries are marginal, go for higher cap batteries and maybe manual batteries
USB passthru is a good backup to have
Buy juice in small 5-10ml quantities till you find what you like

I find I'm vaping about 1/4 of what I smoked. 2-3 hits and I'm good vs having to smoke a whole cigarette.

Yes... sort of. Here's what you can use with each kit:
eGo
- 510 atomizers (with a cart, or drip tip)
- 306 atomizers (with drip tip, usually)
- eGo Mega atomizers (with a cart or drip tip)
- 510 cartomizers (many brands - Joye, CE2, Boge, and SLB)
- eGo Mega cartomizers (Joye brand)

Kr808
- Kr808 cartomizers
- 901 atomizers (with drip tip or cart)

What is the battery life of each? - I'm familiar with cell phone technology how about standby and active
With how I use them, the Kr808's last me about 4-5 hours of moderately heavy vaping, and the eGo lasts me about 10 hours. There's not really a "stand-by." It's on or it isn't.

What is the cartridge / cartomizer capacity of each in terms of cigarettes or a pack?
Don't compare it to cigs. You will probably vape a bit differently than you smoked, so trying to compare is a practice in frustration. I'll go with time. For me, cartomizers last a couple hours of moderately heavy vaping. A cartridge lasts me 20-30 minutes. And dripping lasts about 10 puffs - which is the only means of vaping that can be compared to smoking a cig. I have kind of started to like dripping, because it reminds me of lighting a cig.

what is the long term cost differences (ie: batteries go dead, atomizers, cartridges / cartomizers)?
A Kr808 kit costs about $35. But cartomizers don't last like atomizers do. At $7 for a 5-pack, and lasting 6-7 refills before they taste weird, you can either wash them (which is hit or miss) or buy more. The batteries cost about 10 bucks, and the 901 atomizers (which they are compatible with) cost 7 or 8 bucks.

An eGo kit will cost you a little more money. But atomizers can last for months if you treat them right. I have some that are 3 months old and still kickin'. An eGo battery is more expensive, around $20. A 510 or 306 atomizers costs 7 or 8 bucks.

In the long term? I think the eGo is probably cheaper, unless you run 901 atomizers on the Kr808.

Which KR808D is best?
They're the same. I bought the cheapest generic kit I could find, and everything still works great, 4 months later.

Which eGo / Riva / Hello is best?
That's subjective. I trust Joye, which is the company that makes the eGo. They were the original, and they seem to have the fewest complaints. So I just stick with the eGo.

Which dealer is good for both / either?
GoodProphets.com, LiteCigUSA.net, there's lots.

I'm just a regular vaper, like everyone else. I picked an area to really research, which for me is stock models. I don't want to mess with external batteries and expensive mods, so I didn't spend any time looking into that. Ask me what batteries go in a Chuck, and all you'll get is a dumb stare, ha ha. But, we have other people on the forums who know a lot about that stuff.

I've only been vaping for 4 months (today, actually). I'm just so excited that not only did I give up cigs, but I actually prefer my e-cig to cigs now that I want to help people as much as I can.

Sure, why not? I actually don't have an Elegant, but they've been getting good reviews. I saw one at a vape meet too. Looked pretty nice, and the owner was happy with it.

Get some blank Kr808 cartomizers, 510 blank carts, and throw in a drip tip while you're at it. It's only 3 or 4 extra bucks. And that way you can really try dripping too.

Of course, there are 510 cartomizers and the 901 atties can be used on Kr808 batteries, but just keep it simple for now. If you get an Elegant and an eGo, your kits will be, for all intents and purposes, identical apart from the connector. So if one of you like cartos over atties or vise versa, just swap. If one or both of you likes both, then you can more complicated.

For whatever it is worth...MistressNomad's vids were what helped me along my path..ordered a Blu before I found this forum, well actually before I read a bunch. Within 2 weeks I had my eGo...experimented with juice and the right mix of VG and PG to meet my needs.

No, I am not off analogs totally yet...but I am 85% done and that suits me just fine.

I find it is hard to find the right "mix", not just in Juice but in the PV...keep on reading and this is then place to do it. Dont give up. It is SOOOO worth it!

Thanks as well for your insight. I'm thinking of getting some mega carts and cartos for the ego maybe some regulars too and
some 808 stuff for the elegant.

I notice the Cignot kit includes 2 complete egos. I was thinking of doing one manual and one automatic. Thoughts?

I hear nothing but good about the manual. Anyone tried the automatic?

Go with a manual. The batteries on those are sealed so you can drip with them and if you fill a cart too much, the juice won't seep into the battery and ruin it. Manuals will also give you better control over your vaping experience.

You can also check out LibertyFlights to do some price checking. They have a 6 month warranty on the eGo batteries and they also have different colors (if you're into that sort of thing . )
