OK, so PG supposedly increases lactic acid in the body. Does anyone know of an herbal/home remedy for ridding the body of excess lactic acid?

Couldn't post this is the right place yet, as I am still new.....

Do you have scientific proof that it increases lactic acid? Or is this more "fodder" for the FDA?

I read in a report that it did. And someone else posted something about it on here somewhere too. I'll have to do more research and then get back to you.

I am just wondering if the gurggling stomach issues have to do with excess lactic acid...and if so, if there is something I could eat/drink that would help.

Excellent! Spoken like a true statistician! :geek:

As far as the PG stuff goes--the only concerns my learned colleauges at the university hospital expressed to me were: [drumroll] possible increased leg cramps [/drumroll]... As our bods process PG into Lactic Acid, the increase in this might cause some cramping. newbie runners sometimes sometimes suffer this as a result of the extra lactic acid they develop as well... my response was; since our bodies process cigarette smoke into--> cancer i will live with any leg cramps.

I think you're confusing lactic acid with stomach acid... What kind of stomach issues are you having?
Lactic acid only occurs in the muscles... if you're having stomach pains, then its not related to that.
If you're having heartburn, or a build-up of stomach acid (causing a burning sensation in your stomach) I'd recommend tums, pepcid ac, or, for more natural cures, an apple, apple cider vinegar, or aloe vera pills.
Although if it's vaping related, you may want to switch to glycerin bases vape liquids, just in case that helps.

sodium bicarbonate = baking soda, for those who dont know. that sounds like it wont work. lactic acid isnt that kind of acid.

your body naturally processes lactic acid, your tissues rid it at a given rate, and most of the time, it is gone before it can build up and make muscles feel sore or burning, like your legs after a vigorous sprint. your liver naturally removes it as well and turns it into sugar (glucose).

lactic acid is not dangerous, it is a part of your bodily process, and dont be afraid of its elevated production through vaping. you have to do some serious vaping, probably at a rate impossible to achieve, to actually feel a discomfort from it. it wont kill you, and probably not even be felt.

I too read that PG causes mild lactic acidosis Primer on kidney diseases - Google Books (And so does nicotine, exercise, high protein intake, sugars, cola drinks, orange juice etc..)

Side effects of mild acidosis include gastrointestinal problems, fatigue, canker sores. So if the natural buffering system in the body is overworked..a natural bicarbonate drink like mineral water (alkaline ) is supposed to be effective in buffering the acidity.
Bicarbonate's Importance to Human Health

It was also discussed a little in another thread here..

Hope you feel better soon:)
