Studies of people and animals show that ethylene glycol enters the body quickly and breaks down very quickly. These studies have shown that ethylene glycol is no longer found in urine or body tissues 48 hours after exposure

I had a similar reaction to PG. Got panic, cut nicotine, panic continued, went to 0mg nicotine, panic continued, quit vaping for 3 years.
Started back up with 0mg PG, instant panic. Went to PG free, no panic.
I think it was that the PG dries me out too much and that is what causes the panic. I'm prone to panic as it is. Any off feeling can start panic building up and painful lungs is an off feeling.

As far as when does it stop, shortly after you stop vaping it.

Have you been paying attention to a lot of reports about health concerns with ecigs? My guess is that you are prone to panic and you're panicking over the BS fears put out about ecigs by the ANTZ driven media. You have an off feeling, the panic builds.
Forget about it. You didn't do any real damage to worry about.
If you want to try PG free I would give it a while to get the vaping panic out of your head.

BTW, coming back to vaping I've found out I have Ulcerative Colitis which I've figured out has been a driving force behind most of my panic my whole life and smoking helps it. I found this out when I came back to vaping and stuck with it and the lack of smoking and quitting nicotine caused it to get pretty bad. As someone else mentioned with thyroidism, there are quite a few physical problems that cause panic.
Now I'm doing DIY and PG up to 10% without a problem.
Although it is in part the PG drying me out making me able to feel my lungs in a bad way I think it was also the Colitis acting up from a lack of smoking.

And yes PG has been reported to cause anxiety, I've been reporting it since I figured out I panicked with standard PG mixes but not PG free.

Xanax is highly addictive. And has pretty bad withdrawal symptoms. Some people need to go to Rehab to get off Xanax. Look it up. If you are chewing on them to make them work faster, that sounds like a problem with Xanax use. Stop using ecigarettes. And if your s/o is having the same problem, he should stop too.

Please save the addiction speeches for recreational drug abusers not people who have an actual need for Xanax. Xanax literally saved my life and I've lost count of the times antis have tried to play on my anxiety to get me to not take it. It's the same thing the ANTZ fear marketing is doing with ecigs.
She says she'd keep it near and she takes half a pill. That is extremely typical of a panic person. Just having it near helps and taking small doses.
Half a pill is probably not enough to get addicted to unless she means she's taking half of a full bar (actually like 3-4 pills) multiple times a day for many days in a row.
I've been taking Xanax for 8 years and have talked to my new doctor about addiction and he said there's no possible way at the dose I take and the amounts I'm taking, and it's been recommended that I take it more often and stop breaking pills in half. I'll probably be on it for the rest of my life because it also helps the IBD pains that are caused by spams and doesn't complicate it like opiates do. And if I go on steroids I'll probably be taking addiction sized doses.
This isn't the first time I've heard of a panic person chewing on a Xanax to make it work faster. It was recommended to me by a couple local panic people when I was first being treated for panic and before it was known I have IBD. Waiting 20-60 minutes in a panic state is not fun.
I really don't see anything to warrant a warning here.

Ok just my experience..... I did have a reaction to PG and I broke out in terrible hives. Blood work showed a high amount of allergens in my system. Tried 100% VG and it was not for me. Have been vaping 40/60 and so far no hives BUT a reaction like this???? I personally would be VERY concerned about other issues. Also the odds of two people having such a severe reaction.... well, the chances are against it.

Anyway, OP it sounds like you are a "not enough studies done yet" person and that is fine. I personally vape to stay off cigs. The rest is just a bonus to me. For me it is better than cigarettes.

Lastly on panic attacks which I have had for many years and Xanax which I have also been on for many years a panic attack is NORMALLY proceeded by an anxiety attack. If I catch my anxiety before it turns to panic I am fine. If not then yeah they can have the physical affects you describe however, the physical symptoms can be controlled with meds other than Xanax. Propanalol for example. However, this is not a drug abuse forum and with that I am done.

So not to revive an old thread but here is my experience. I use a G5 vaporizer with a cartridge I refill.

Switched from one flavor to another within 24 hours my throat started to swell up and had a feeling of being choked slightly. Obvious restriction in my airways, I was nervous enough to go to the ER as I've never had any issues with breathing before.

Did an EKG and CT scan which both came back negative. Doc administered some sort of steroid through an IV to reduce the inflamation.

I was feeling a little bettter with the meds but still had an uncomfortable feeling in my throat (like it was swollen).

I was given an oral steroid to take for 7 days as well as benadryl equivalent (but apparently stronger).

Today is 4 days after I stopped vaping, I decided to just stop vaping all together to determine is the e cig is the cause.

The 3 days since quitting the vapor I still have that swollen feeling in my throat as well as tightness and swelling in the neck. I am too curious how long it took for the OP to stop having reactions?
