I usually read 2 or 3 books a week and some of my favorites recently have been
"Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen. Loved this book - although I have read
reviews where some complained that from a veterinary perspective it was historically inaccurate.
"The Sugar Queen" by Sara Addison Allen
I predominately read Fantasy, Sci Fi and Paranormal stuff ( often read stuff from the young adult section too)- Urban Fantasy is my favorite and I love a good series!
Some of my all time favorites
Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs - love these, story has a bit of romance woven in but it's not one of those absurd bodice rippers! Mercy is a Skin walker (changes into a coyote) who was raised by werewolves, she's also a bad@ss tatted up VW mechanic. You also get some Vampires and fae mixed in.
Sookie Stackhouse - Charlaine Harris (harper connelly series was good too)
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater - YA book but very good!
Juliet Naked by Rick Hornby (he wrote High Fidelity)
The time traveler's wife : a novel by Audrey Niffenegger - I wouldn't bother with her second book though it was terrible.
The book of the maidservant by Rebecca Barnhouse - also a YA book but based on on a true story. Told from the perspective of Dame Margery Kempes servant on their pilgrimage to Rome. Very quick read - but interesting, I thought.
Bitten (bk 1) , Stolen (bk 2), Broken (bk 6) & Frostbitten (bk 10) - by Kelley Armstrong. I usually don't read series books out of order but Armstrong switches between story lines and characters ... these books are werewolf based on the characters Clay and Elena.
Love this thread!
