Hello, ladies :). I got lost and couldn't find the ladies' room again (bf told me it was first door when I leave the room *rolls eyes*). I LOVE to read, though I've been reading less since I stopped smoking which I did outside. I have a Kindle and keep buying the first generation one from e-Bay because it's my favorite and I've heard not-so-good things about other ones. I'm reading Defending Jacob right now. A GREAT place to keep track of my books is Good Reads. You can link it to Facebook if you want and add friends who are or aren't on Facebook. I sat here one night and rated books on there and before I knew it I had over 300 books rated and about 24 in my to-read list!! If anyone is a member, I'd love to add you as a friend :). Anyway...

I'll read just about anything or at least try to. I loved Water for Elephants, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Harry Potter, Twilight was so-so, Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz, The Da Vinci Code/Robert Langston series by Dan Brown. I like reading young adult books for some reason (maybe just light reading?). Before the Kindle, I had books given to me or books from my childhood/teenage years that I read over and over, maybe that's why. With my Kindle, I have a site where people buy certain e-books every month (new releases) and we trade. Plus, there's tons of free e-books on Facebook like Pixel of Ink and e-Reader Today. Anyway, I love to read!! I'll have to get back to it, but it's hard since my smoking time was my reading time and "me" time.

There's no reason that you can't take some time outside to vape and read :)

I probably will when it gets warmer, but right now it's been snowing and I took my smoking tent down because it smelled SO bad and I didn't want to be tempted by the habit of smoking out there. As it is now, I work from home and my schedule is out of whack because we've been low on work and I've been working day shift, afternoon, and night shift when work is available so I just vape while I'm working and it's crimping my reading style :). I got some reading in last night and I was tickled!! The "book" hasn't drawn me in completely, yet. When I like a book, I'll carry my Kindle around to the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, etc., and not watch where I'm going!!

Ambeck22, do you like Defending Jacob? I have it on my wish list as the Kindle price is a bit high still... but I love good books. We have some of the same tastes in books, btw. I hated the Twilight series and I am a high school teacher so I got to hear about it A LOT. I do like the Hunger Games series. I am currently reading The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta... I am kinda plodding through it. I just finished The Snow Child and loved it except for the ending.

Yes, I'm liking it so far. The first Twilight was okay, but after that I just wanted to know if she was "changed" or not. Bella was way too whiny and helpless for my taste. In terms of vampires, I don't like sparkly ones.

I've read The Leftovers. It was different and I made it through, but not great.

The Snow Child sounds interesting; I've added it to my Wish List.

I'll try anything, so I try not to rule anything out, but I did NOT like The Dovekeepers by the woman who wrote Practical Magic and I quit reading it.

I've been meaning to read hunger games as well.

I've just been introduced to Karin Slaughter by Fudgey and Tiberonfirst- liked the first two that I've read. the library has about 4 more.

"A Discovery of Witches" by Deborah Harness is excellent - worth adding to "want to read" lists

I really enjoyed A Discovery of Witches. Another one that was really good and is supposed to become a series is Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I flew through that book and didn't want to put it down. It was a shoulder banger; one of the ones I read while walking around and would run into doorways!

Lets see, so far this year, I have liked:
Heft, Beyond the Beautiful Forevers, Life and Death in a Mumbai slum, The Little Russian, The Night Circus, The Orphan Master's Son(OMG!!), Sister, and Into the Darkest Corner. I read a lot more than this during the summer, but I get so exhausted during the school year that I read less. Plus, I spent some time quitting smoking this year. :)

Mmm...have only read The Night Circus and Sister. I think I wanted to read Heft but then I forgot about it because I didn't add it to my wish list or write it down :(. I'm bad about that. I love getting suggestions from People magazine's book reviews. I think Heft was in one issue. I haven't heard of the others mentioned . I added The Orphan Master's Son, too, based on the OMG!!. Speaking of OMG!!, I can't believe I forgot to add The Story of Edgar Sawtelle to my read list on Good Reads. Such a good (and long) book! The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore...well, kind of raw but a good read overall. Not for everyone.

Hey is anyone here a fan of F. Paul Wilson? The Repairman Jack series is one of my favorites. Strange hybrid of urban fantasy, thriller, and action, but it really works.

Since I watched the DVDs of "Game of Thrones" I've started reading the book. Quite excellent even though I'm usually very picky about swords/sorcery books. I am a total GoT fangirl:)

I love the Repairman Jack novels. Even though the later one's are getting a little extra weird. Isn't the series almost over?

Edgar Sawtelle was amazing.

And it reminds me of another (completely different)book about a dog- "the art of racing in the rain". it's a tearjerker- but absolutely wonderful.

Ann Rice has a new one- "the wolf gift" it's her take on werewolves, and is quite good.
