Looks nice. One thing I would probably do different is not to remove the nose cone. Maybe solder the pcb side first, screw it back in there and solder the atty side wire last before closing it. That would need really thin wire though to get that excess wire stuffed inside there. 0.5mm single strand for instance.

That would be great if you didnt have to remove the nose cone from the shell but I don't think you could rotate the pcb back inside from the cap end. The switch button would never stay in its hole and you would probably twist the wire off.

Let me know if this works out for ya

Cisco,

Just made this mod tonight and gotta say it is the cleanest and cheapest mod thus far. I've made the mod-box, and the Fist Pack (Dedmonwakin) but the aesthetics of this one is very pleasing. People don't believe me when I told them I made it. It looks like it's store bought. Thank you.

Also, your step by step instructions were very detailed and easy to follow. You pretty much have to follow them precisely. There is basically no other way to do it.

I think even novice modder's can handle this.

Anyone notice the vp1 from vaprlife looks almost exactly like this aside from the led ring?

One thing I didn't see mentioned here is that you can get a aaa battery that is a lithium 3.7V 360mAh 10440. Wouldn't you have issues using a nimh battery? Only 1.2volts

This thing is designed for A 3.6v 10440 (look at post #3 and #6).

I saw that vp1, its the same shell with a hacked up connector and a some poorly drill holes around the connector for the low price of $99.00. The VP2 is some weird looking 2 pc thingy with some more poorly machined parts for the low price of $129.00.
Here is a link to a close up shot of both of them, I am almost embarrassed to look at them....8-o http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-91978753308350_2064_1581641

Great guide Cisco, but there is one little question ledt.
Which drill size did you use to drill out the nose cone ?

Depends on the connector. for the ones I use a finish hole of .336 to .338 is good for a press fit. The problem is when you drill the hole without a drill press and clamps a drill bit will produce a bigger hole then its size. a 21/64 drill bit is .328 this might produce a finished hole that is closer to .336 you can then dremel or file the holeto a nice tight fit.
