So again I'm using a Kanger subox kit, 1.5 coil, and when I press the button to vape, the screen reads:

5.3v
1.5 ohm
18 watts

I'm using a Samsung INR 18650 battery. Is it supposed to reach 5.3v?

Did I overcharge the battery?

If so, should i get rid of the battery and can I use the Kanger subox mini tank (I think it's a new version of the Kanger subtank mini) on my Joyetech Ego One 1100mah battery?

Sorry for the paranoid questions today but I just want to be able to vape without having my face blown off!

Thanks!:)

The tank is the new suntans mini and will work with other things, I don't know if it will work with that though, I think they require a high drain battery which is exactly what the Samsung 25r is. The voltage goes up with the wattage and ohms. Until a seal issue today I was using mine at 12.5 watt and 4.something volts. Now I have a 1.2 ohm coil (not by choice ) which I have been playing with. As far as I researched this the battery will be fine and is designed for the kind of voltage it is giving although they won't fully discharge as it simply wouldn't be capable with say 30% charge left of delivering the power needed to fire the coil. Mine hasn't blown up yet and with genuine batteries and this mod I haven't seen any posts about exploding batteries. Just my experience though.

Most lithium based batteries have a maximum output fully charged of about 4.1 to 4.2 volts. Most mods like the Kbox Mini (aka Subox Mini) that are variable use what are called Boost (increase voltage) and Buck (decrease voltage) circuits to control the various outputs they need to achieve a desired voltage output. In the case like you post, 5.3v @ 18watts on a 1.5ohm coil, the Boost circuit is being used, not exact explanation but quite close, the Boost circuit draws extra amps from the battery to convert into extra voltage the battery at its current charge state can not normally provide to supplement the battery's current output. Example - Battery at middle charge state of about 3.8v output, to get to 5.3v it needs an extra 1.5volts, it draws and extra 2 to 3 or higher amps from the battery into the converter circuit and slips it into the voltage stream to give the full 5.3v so you have to remember, what amps you are already pulling from the resistance of your coil, plus have to have headroom for the mod to pull extra amps to convert into extra volts. So in your instance, 5.3v at 1.5ohms =18.72 watts @ 3.53amps, add 5amps extra the mod is pulling into the boost circuit as a safety margin, 8.53amps total, the Samsung 25R is rated at 20amp Continuous Drain Discharge Rate, you still have 11amps of safety left being moderate in explanation, but give you general idea of what is going on.

under load your battery will put out about 3.7 volts under load. the mod will cut- off if the battery voltage drops below 3 volts. simply divided your wattage by your battery voltage to determine the current being drawn from the battery. in this case 18 watts divided but 3 volts gives you 6 amps at cutoff or about 5 amps at full charge (18 watts divided by 3.7 volts) well within the 20 amp limit of the battery that you are using

5.3v is the right voltage for that ohms and wattage. Your fine :thumb:
