Work is for the weak!!! Oh wait ... n/m ... too much coffee!

My heart goes out to you .. I worked factory temp jobs in the summers when I was in college ... I had many a night like that. Horrible! Cold showers never felt so good!

Not if you just worked a 12 hours shift in a 100 degree steamy factory. 2nd night down...2 more to go. Suppose to hit 103 today and tomorrow 107 without heat indexes.

You sound like my mother. I've been up close to 25 hours, have to pick up the daughter from 'day camp' in about seven, and still I'm a slacker.

o_O

I used to be on the night shift... 630pm to 630am. I've always been a night owl but it sucked when the kids weren't in school/daycare. Finally built enough seniority to switch to days. Easier on the family life, but on my days off I still find myself staying up till all hours of the morning, even 2 years after switching over from the darkside.

I work 6pm-6am. I'll take nights over days anytime. Dayshift has too many chiefs and not enough little indians. Nights are more laid back in comparison.

cleolove...yes, a cold shower never felt so good but makes me sleepy once I'm done...then I don't feel like getting on ECF...bad thing though, I don't think I can stand to smell myself if I don't shower first.

It was a lot better when it first got started--I slept while the wife and daughter worked/daycared/schooled--got the daughter in the afternoon, then all together in the evening. Then the wife started scheduling clients later and later, which means she sleeps later. So now I help get everyone up and moving in the morning and it's enough to wake me up again. So now I tend to get two to four hours of sleep a day, and it's not the quitting smoking that makes me a raging donkey .....

Oh you must work where I do! Have we met IRL? lol That describes my job to a T.

Another thing I noticed about nights, as a dispatcher, when I got a call at 3am about a possible burglary in progress; odds are it really is a burglary. As opposed to dayshift, where nosy neighbors are awake and call in to report burglaries that turn out to be: the newspaper delivery guy, the UPS guy, somebody moving out of their house, Jehovas Witnesses, kids playing hide and seek, etc etc....

I usually don't get more than two days in a row of two hours--the third I'll pass out and get five whether I like it or not

And I'm going to grab a book and see if I can't read myself into a stupor and at least get four or five today. The week always goes better if I start off with more sleep...

G'night everybody--I expect to see at least 600 posts here by the time I log back on!
