3 weeks and my bolt is working great! What should i use to lube the threads?

Many people use Noalox, but I'm sure most types of thread lube from the hardware or plumbing section would work fine.

I'm using anti-seize thread lubricant for spark plugs myself. Same concept as any of the others but already had the tube of anti-seize.

I will be posting my Bolt review in a few days. I will have to say, it is getting a good recommendation. For a SilverBullet clone, it is a nice one. I've had it for over a month, and have no complaints. The Bolt works great with the 18500's, and the extension for $10, or under, allows it to take CR123A'a stacked for 6V and 7V, as well as the 18650 battery.

I have been using it when out-and-about, instead of taking my Infinity Pro (or other mods). And I hope I do it justice, in the video review. But, this really marks the point where Chinese manufacturers started copying great mods, and got it right.

Anyone happen to use the Smoktech xxxl dualcoils (either 1.5 or 2 ohm, I have plenty of both on hand) on the Bolt? Just wondering how well they work and roughly how much run time might be expected with moderate-to-heavy vaping (using the stock 18500s, as I'd like to keep the size down as much as possible).

Well I got my bolt back in January and never used the extension for twin LiFePO4 batteries. Immediately swapped the spring for a silver bullet copper spring. The spring that comes with the bolt is very long and either needs to be cut or replaced for 6v or an 18650. Just grab a 30 cent o ring to cover that 3mm gap and your overall mod will be much shorter with less connections. With the extension in place and original spring the mod is actually a little bit long for RCR123s or an 18650 meaning you're going to hear the batteries rattling in there with movement.

Problem now is my horn switch has died. It hurts to have your favorite mod down. I've ordered spare horn switches in addition to new roughstack switches to fix my three dead roughstacks as well. To MV's credit when I emailed them complaining about poor switch quality on their mods they also shipped out 4 extra horn switches. Oh well, at least I'll have spares to experiment with and see if I can devise a quick swap that puts the horn switch's threads into play instead of half a pound of silicone. Here's hoping I can dismantle the cap without destroying the guts of the head.

Yeah, this is a no go.

Getting a hook through the plastic disk that houses the contact and pulling as hard as possible and it won't budge. Already tried rotating the disk out of the threads. The whole shebang must be siliconed or epoxied in. End result? This is a completely unserviceable switch. With the included switch being the cheapo horn unit and neither MV or CCV selling just the head, this mod is a disposable in my opinion. I cannot recommend the bolt to anyone in any way if this switch can not be replaced. $50 is great for a mod but not for a disposable. Buy a roughstack instead and if you rock tanks like I do, just spring for a silver bullet in the first place.

:not a happy camper:

Finally got inside. I had to pry the switch out until it came loose from the epoxy. Disk is still in tight as heck. I'm going to fix it but it's going to entail modifying and soldering the new switch in and I'm not looking forward to soldering through the switch hole. Nowhere near what I'd call a "quick swap". Still cannot recommend this mod.

This is not good to hear. I tested the Bolt for 2 months before recording the review. I wanted to make sure it would withstand the usage of carting it around in my pocket, and constant use. I still don't have any issues with mine, and I still take it places -- but not as often. Maybe I will email MadVapes, and see how many issues they have had reported. If it is a lot, I will update the review.

Sorry guys. I will find out more.

Just an update:

So, as it turns out I put my voltmeter on the "failed" switch and lo and behold, the switch never failed! Wondering wtf I inspected the wiring and sure enough I found burned wire. I stripped away the insulation and this wire is ridiculously thin. It's not surprising that this wire would heat up. So apparently I fried out the wire and not the switch mechanicals. If you saw this wire you'd almost expect it to burn @ 6v. It's almost as thin as an atty coil! So I'm going to put in some heavier gauge wiring and see what we get.

So as it stands I could probably recommend the Bolt again but not for anything above 3.7v. If you got twin 3.7s and an extension to hit 7.4 volts I'd be surprised to see you get 2 weeks out of that wire. I'd bet if Madvapes dismantled one before purchasing a bunch from Smoke tech they'd have passed considering problems people have had with springs shorting in the roughstacks.

Not your fault. You likely haven't pushed the mod to the breaking point as you clearly say not to stack batteries. I only use LiFePO4 batteries as they're cooler and safer than Li-Ions and only hit 3.0v instead of 3.7 but I obviously push hardware to it's limits as I've nuked an indulgence, 3 roughstacks of the spring style, several eGos, and now a Bolt. Batteries only last me a few hours and I nuke dual coil tank cartos within a couple weeks. 3.7 just doesn't do it for me as I hate taking 8 second pulls on my PV. It's still a competent silver bullet clone but I doubt a silver bullet has razor thin wiring.

Yeah you need to read ECF's guidelines on battery usage. Unless you're using AW Lifepo's or another good brand and not tenergy or some generic then please follow all the safety guidelines to make the inevitable explosion/venting/rocket mode significantly less likely to happen.

Well, I do want people to be responsible, but I know people will stack them. I just wish the Bolt, or even the Indulgence V3 (from Riva), would have a little protection. LiFePO4 batteries are better, but there are still dangers, and if you are going to do that, use AW's. I have Lifepos from MadVapes (Haoba rcr123a 3 volt Battery Kit), and I won't stack those in an unprotected mod. I just haven't seen the testing on them anywhere (not that I searched too hard though). Then again, I do have an Infinity, and Infinity Pro. The Infinity Pro goes to 15Watts, and it is usually enough for me, but there are times I want to push it higher. So, I understand. It's why I gave more pointers when I did my Indulgence V3 review. Yet, even in both videos, I put stacked 3.7V batteries in the mod... mostly because I wanted to give the pointers, show that it does work, and hopefully be a little entertaining in the meantime. I still don't recommend it, but I do understand.
