tlmoody27... I'm having a hard time seeing it, but i believe, according to Phil Busardo's chart, that those 2.0ohm dual coils you like will allow you to get up to about 4.9v, which should be a truly exemplary vape. You might want to set it to 5.0 or 5.1v, and the LT will drop it back to the max figure for you, since there's a .1-.2 v dropoff with some cartos under load. ;) And the 3.0ohm boge will allow you to get up to about 5.5-5.6v, I believe, so that's a terrific 'high voltage' option for you. If you wanna get all the way up to 6v, you might want to try a 3.5ohm dual coil (can buy singles at Welcome to SmokTek, LLC - The Better Smoking Alternative - Your source for personal vaporizers, e-cig supplies and e-liquids) to try that out.

And Videodave, meant to mention that my best vaping pal, Rickajho on ecf, collects watches as well. ;) QUITE an elaborate hobby, but he just loves it. ;)

Quick question. I watched PBusardo's video about the LT. On it he said that when he used a Smoketech DCT tank it would not fire because of it not connecting to the battery all the way. Does anyone else have this problem? The DCT is primarily what I use and want to know when I get my LT if this is going to be an issue or if this has been fixed. If this is an issue with all of them is there a fix? Thanks!

Sorry... totally missed seeing this, somehow. Ok, so first of all, the issues with some DCT not working great on the lavatube, to my knowledge, is restricted to the original body V1 lavatubes, powdercoated, in the black, silver, red. And not all DCts are hard to fit on it... some work great, some not so great. A fix, I'm guessing, though not sure how it would look, would be a 'shorty 510 to 510 connector'. However, I know many many of the DCTs work just great on em, think it really depends on model. So if you're a fan of the DCT, I'd give yours a whirl, and if it doesn't work, you can choose whether to try a $2 shorty 510 connector, or if you want to buy another tank that fits better. I DON'T unfortunately have the list of tanks that work with no adapter on the V1 original body lavatube, but guessing it'll be easy enough to find in the lavatube forum, OR maybe people here who use DCTS, and have that original body style (ie any powdercoated LT) would tell us what they're using successfully?
My lt is stainless steel, with an ego connection, so its a whole other animal, alas. And for the record, the smoktech tanks as well as the inexpensive knockoff colored tanks (i have links if you need em) both work just great on the stainless/chrome models. I don't have any pricier tanks to report on, but I haven't heard of any issues with DCTs and the all metal lavatubes at all, so far.

I just wanted to say Kudos to orachel for her contributions to this thread. I don't think she wanted to "own" this thread or work it single-handedly but she has done a wonderful job in assisting everyone with their questions/concerns. Wish I had more time to assist. :toast:

Thanks, Bmays! I'll tell you, every time I've ever had a question I flat out couldn't answer you and carlton have been there, so that's just amazing, as far as I'm concerned. ;) And yeah, I'm stuck home with health yuck, so I just have WAY more time to dedicate to stuff like this than I would have when I was working 65 hour weeks. lol You can only do what you can do, if that makes sense, and I for one am grateful for what you techier guys do, cause otherwise I'd be flailing. ;)

lol, you're allowed to have questions... we all did, and do. ;) As to that general statement, I'd say that's flat out false. People say that rather generally because when someone talks about a 'dual coil' ie dual coil that comes in a dual coil tank, they're usually in the 1.25-1.5ohm resistance range. A more accurate statement would be '1.25-1.5 cartos are not suited well for the LT', simply because they won't allow you to get out of the 3s, voltage wise. I love my 1.7ohms, and they're not much higher than that, but they get me close to 4.4ish volts, and that's perfect for me. I couldn't tell you the exact difference between the two, but its my understanding that dual coils LITERALLY have two (ie: dual) coils wrapped to create lower ohms... which is why, like Videodave mentioned... if you have a dual coil in a very low resistance, you can 'snip' one of the coils, and end up with a single coil carto at twice the resistance of the original dual coil. lol As to my taste, the vape 'feels' different to me at dual coil or single, and i personally prefer single, but LOTS of people love dual coils. AND now there are dual coils available in 2ohm, 2.5, 3ohm, 3.5, 4ohm... any of those would work just great on the LT. The general 'LT's don't like dual coils' thing came about initially when tons of people bought em when they first came out (which is incidentally when dual coils were at their most popular, if I'm remembering correctly) and loads of people were frustrated that the 2.5amp restriction stopped them from vaping a 1.5ohm dual coil in the mid 4s... So moral of the story is, dual coils are great on the LT, but unless you only want to vape at VERY low voltages, aim for one at 2ohm or higher. ;) Hope that helps!

Oh, and of course there are exceptions to any rule. I have a 1.5ohm dual coil CLEAROMIZER that I love on the LT, because the carto itself is so intense that the ideal voltage for me on it is about 3.5 volts... those are these ones...And you can see, all the reviews talk about how intense they are. BUT with a regular old smoktech dual coil in 1.5ohms, 3.5v just wouldn't seem 'intense' enough... so it has a lot to do with specific cartos, also.
510 Tank Twin Coil Clearomizer - E Cig : Joye eGo & eGo-T | Boge Leo | Cartomizers | E-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes | eGo Tank

Ok, now this confuses the hell outta me. From all that I have read DC's will not run above around 3.7 volts on the LT because of the regulation of the switch, and this is why so many are looking forward to an upgraded switch. I've always assumed that your 1.7 cartos were single coil, and if so would have no problem reaching mid 4s voltage. If you used a 2ohm DC that would be two 4ohm single coils and that would push the amp rating over the 2.5 that the switch allows. Am I missing something???

Yeah, so funny that you say that apuck, because that is EXACTLY what I thought. I thought there was something intrinsically different about dual coils, but apparently its the ohms (and dual coils initially were just very low ohm). Apparently we were both wrong, though. I was corrected pretty thoroughly, so I'd say I'm all but 100% certain that's accurate. I certainly could be wrong, stranger things have happened, but I was told in no uncertain terms, by someone who knows his stuff, that I was incorrect, and that the resistance is the defining factor. You know, if memory serves, I think Carlton might have been the one who set me straight on that, so hoping I'm right and he can explain it better. BUT... think of it this way... if the DC itself made a difference, then Phil B would have broken those down into which are dc and which are not, and he didn't... its all about the ohms... dual coil just determines the ohms, and originally when dual coils came out, I believe it was in an effort to get the resistance way lower than they were able to with SC...or at least seems that way since 1.25ohm and 1.5 ohm are the ones they started with.

What it boils down to..... Ok, when you've got a soda, do you call it a coke even if its generic? I think that's what goes on... when most people talk about 'dual coils' they're sorta assuming the standards that come in DCTs, which are the 1.25 and 1.5s... THOSE most assuredly won't run over 3.7or so at the high end. You're right about that. BUT they've since come out with DCs in 2-4ohm range, and those run just like any 'single coil' carto would run at same voltage, within the 2.5amp restriction. We're looking forward to the new ones so we can 'push the envelope' a little bit, since SO many people who say 'i love dual coils' really mean 'I love very low res dual coils' and they wanna get outta the 3s. rofl

And btw, my 1.7s are single coil, but if there was a 1.7ohm dual coil, they'd work exactly the same way. Make sense?

It does make sense, there is just so much contradictory information floating around that it becomes confusing. Why increase the amp limit for the switch? So we can run 1.25s and 1.5s? That seems kinda strange, I don't ever hear anyone talking about using anything that low. Plus if you were to push one of those to 6 volts wouldn't it just cook the juice??? I cook most of my juice over 5volts with a 2.0.

Not JUST that... an increased amp restriction really does improve the vape considerably, from what I've been told. I kinda wondered that myself. ;) And lots of people do use em that low on other devices... say provari and buzzpro for instance... but just impossible at a decent voltage with a vv device regulated to 2.5amps. I got a TON of info about how the amp restriction increasing improves the vape in this thread... quite frankly I'm not even gonna try to paraphrase, since I'd screw it up. I am NOT a master of vape math, by a long shot, and the concepts were just a little advanced for me. BUT sounds like would help you out. ANd just fyi... the devices they're talking about in this thread... they've all since been tested, and I believe all the restrictions are under 3.0 amps.. These are clones, NOT manufactured by lrider (the original lavatube manuf) and all of the specs are flat out inaccurate. BUT the real lrider tube with ohm meter and 4amps is coming in August, I believe. So just pop in here, and ask what benefits there are to higher amps, aside from the obvious. They're nice guys and the guys I go to when I have a techie question. ;)

OK guys and Gal, I think your combining two difference issues here. The 2.5amp max switch and the LT's protection circutry. I'll start with Cowboy Cru's question about wattage. Wattage is also referred to as Power in Ohm's Law which is what governs all this techno talk (until you get into PWM (Pulse Width Modulation- the power scheme in the newer v1.5t). Yes voltage definitely effects wattage as does resistance (a carto's ohms.) To figure out wattage you need to know the current and the resistance. What P. Busardo's charts tell us is that without looking at them we really do not know the voltage we are using because whatever voltage we set our LT's (Version 1) to we might not be getting it because the LT limits the voltage to protect us from burning out a carto. This is different than the 2.5 amp maximum of the switch. That is in place to protect the switch and the LT's innards.
As far as dual coil cartos are concerned they are basically two seperate coils installed in parallel which halfs the resistance (assuming they are both the same value) and increases overall power.
Rachel is correct when she says it is not the fact that it is a dual coil but the actual resistance that limits our voltage with the LT.
Now, my turn to ask rachel a question. I have only tried a carto so far with my new LT. It is a 3 ohm single coil which gives me a lot of room to play with the voltage. First time using a vv device so it was fun. I seemed to like it at about 4.7 volts best. Good throat hit and lots of vapor (I understand this will change with different juices; I plan to play with that tomorrow). But I definitely do find it to be airy and would like a tighter draw. What adapter do you recommend for cartos to tighten the draw? And is that the stuff you have in your blog page (I haven't gotten to it yet.
Yes my t-shirt tail has taken on a new function tonight as that is how I have been wiping it down all evening.
BTW, I also am out of work due to health reasons (bad back) and also have sleep problems. I did get six hours last night which is the best I've done in weeks. As far as the watch thing, I'd love to talk watches with your friend although while I used to collect better watches, about two years ago it dawned on me that I wasn't having much fun at it because it took a year or two to save up for a watch (this is when I was still working). I sold most of my finer pieces and lowered my sights to watches in the $75-$750 range which allowed me to do a lot more buying, selling and trading. I have turned this into a small e-commerce business (mostly on eBay) and made for much more enjoyment.
Orachel, let me also add my appreciation to you for always being there to help us newbies and taking the time to research every question thrown at you. You deserve a prize for all you do. Thanks again!

Gosh, you guys are making me blush!:oops:rofl

Thank you SO much for explaining that so much better than I could! lol Really helps, huge.

K... first off, if you want a tighter draw, and are liking a voltage around 4.7, you GOTTA try my 1.7ohm resurrectors. Sounds like they were MADE for ya. I can send you one to try if you like, just pm me addy. Or if you don't wanna do that, PLEASE grab a single... really does sound ideal for your preferences. But yeah, as for the 'airier' draw cartos, they're particularly airy with the draw on these metal tubes. So you need to grab a '3.5ml tank cone'... no...it doesn't make sense, but yes, I promise it works. And yeah, you'll see how and what it will look like with your cartos in my blog, just click the little 1. Everyone with this device, as far as I'm concerned, absolutely needs a 3.5ml tank cone, and really, a 510 to ego adapter comes in handy often as well. I also use the 510 to 510 shorty pretty often, but that's more a measure to stop juice getting into my connection with 'wetter' cartos. Blog will explain everything, and give some links, but you can get those at most large vape shops.

Rick adores watches, but he does it on a WAY lower budget... but he has so much fun with it and I imagine you guys would have a lot to talk about. lol I'll tell him to get his bum over here and say Hi. ;)

I just found out (again thanks to a comment you made-I've gotten more info from you than anyone ever) that there is a florida sub-forum. And there I learned that we have a local e-cig shop. Tomorrow I have physical therapy but Wednesday I will go there, check it out and buy a 1.7ohm Resurrector (but thanks for the offer) and a 3.5ml tank cone, a 510-ego, a 510-510 shorty and whatever else looks like fun. I want to check out the place anyway and the third Wed. of the month my disability check comes in (yea!.)
And I look forward to you hooking me up with Rick; whatever budget he has it's still fun to talk watches for me. Going to try for some sleep now; have to be up in three and a half hours for PT. If I can fall asleep now that would be two decent nights in a row. Sleep Well. Probably talk with you tomorrow; I have other new stuff to try out; and even if I didn't. . . .

Yay! See, very handy little critter, those cones. lol You likely won't need one with a resurrector, simply cause the draw is MUCH tighter, so make sure if you get one you try it both ways. BTW, I have a killer chronic pain condition, mostly affecting my back, and these dvds made a HUGE difference for me. I was doing them for a while and got better relief than any pt or aquatic therapy or anything else I've done in the past, and got out of the habit when I moved, so have to get back to it. AND unlike any pt I've ever done, after the first few times, you actually hurt less after the movements than before. So just peek at reviews, and if you're ever looking for some bonus help... sooo helpful. Literally best $20 I've ever spent. ;)

Wow, you really are going to turn out to be my MUSE! First all this help with vaping now my back! This one is going to be tougher though.. . . I am on some pretty heavy meds and have a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted. The PT is only once in a while when it gets worse than usual. There are many exercises I can't even try.
Of course I'll chack them out; and since it's you that suggested them they will probably be a lifesaver.

Yeah, that is definitely one to check with your doc on, just cause you dont play with those implants. My pain doc had never heard of Egoscue, but the pt guy practically started dancing when I told him I'd found those. Apparently Egoscue works with a lot of athletes and they are about the most benign movements known to man. I can barely get thru mild tai chi, and this was a little rough the first 3x or so (NOTHING like pt pain, though) and after that i just felt amazing and energized. I'd say I had about a 15%-20% improvement in pain and energy levels, which exceeds what I got with major hardcore meds combined with 3x a week aquatic therapy. They're perfect for me, but really are designed for people with major back problems. I have some minor ones, but most of my pain is referred. My dad is a natural medicine guru, so I've got all manner of pain type stuff, if ever youre needing a boost in that department. ;)
