Errol, what will taking the carto off do? I can do that if need be, but that would mean removing it every time I lay it down. I usually take 2-3 puffs, lay it down for a few minutes, grab it again for a few more puffs etc. So every few minutes I'd be taking the carto on and off. Since this has happened (getting warm) even when the unit was turned off while it was laid down, do you still think taking the carto off each time is necessary to isolate something? Again this doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. I'm using a ce3 bottom coil if that matters at all. I'll do that if I need to, just want to understand what I'm looking for and if it still could be an issue even if the unit was off. Thanks!

K... good question! So sorry I haven't posted that for you guys till now!
XTAR WP2 II charging settings
0 - Use '0' setting ONLY if you want to charge something via the usb port on your WP2. In order to do this, you must have a charged battery IN the first charging port (far left w the cord on the L hand side of your body). The charger will 'feed' charge from the battery into your usb device. I use this for passthrough, plus comes in really handy when you're using the charger in the car, and need to charge usb devices. You CANNOT charge something via usb while charging batteries in the channels, though, I don't believe.
Main Settings for charging batteries...
.5 - This delivers 500mA to your batteries. This is the slower setting, but it also what I recommend for regular use. Its charges slow and steady, yet still MUCH faster than cheap chargers. NOTE... it is VERY important that you not charge your batteries at a higher setting than they can handle. Any batteries under 70mm can be charged at the .5 (500 mA) setting. 500 setting works for all batteries.
1 - This delivers 1000mA (1A) to your batteries. VERY IMPORTANT... never charge anything at a setting higher than it can handle. In other words, if you have 2 900mah 14500 batteries in the channels, neither of those is equipped to handle 1000mA, so you MUST use the .5 setting. This is why its safer to leave it on .5. BUT if you're ever in a hurry, and need to charge 2 1600Mah 18650 batteries, each of those are capable of holding over 1000mA, so you could use the higher setting. Just remember to switch it back! 1000mA setting works ONLY for batteries over 1000mah each.
Hope that helped! Again, I'm not a battery expert, but when I got my WP2 I asked a few people, and they said those rules above are for safest charging possible. I honestly just leave mine on the 500Ma (.5) setting for just about everything unless I've got a 'backlog' of batts to charge. Then I'll do the very largest capacity ones (18650s) at 1A setting.
I just got this Xtar and a few AW 18350's for the SS Vtube mini (which I guess were charged prior to shipping cause it took maybe 10 min to finish). While the charger is safer than most at that price, and I think most of you are using 18650 batteries (among others, which I'm sure fit great) the 18350's require 2 spacers in order to work with this charger, which is no big deal. HOWEVER, using 2 spacers on either side causes the battery to basically sit at the midpoint of the battery slot, which is where there is no wall on either side. This leaves the 18350 free to JUMP out when the wind blows too hard. Really though it always happens when putting the second battery in and the slightest nudge will cause it to slip out, or slingshot out the side when the spring releases. It may not necessarily be considered a problem by most, but it sure is annoying having to align each one carefully every time and slowly retreat without causing the "Operation" game buzzer to go off. Anyone come across this issue with these or other batteries that use spacers?
yes the 510-510 shorty and 3.5ml tank cone adapter. Orachel explains the adapters needed for vtube in this tutorial/
The spacers work to charge the 18350, but that size is not listed on the box for whatever reason
No, well yes if you want! But it is NOT needed!
Here is how to use the Vivi Nova V2 (air hole above the 510 threads, not on knurled ring that makes up bottom of tank) with the chrome or SS Lavatube (L-Rider V2) WITHOUT an adapter (510-510 shorty) or 3.5ml tank cone.
You should only need to follow these directions once. After that you will know where to point.
1, put a mark on the lower knurled bottom ring of the tank (I used a Sharpie) directly over the air hole.
2. screw the knurled bottom ring on to (or actually into) the Lava Tube (Vtube) firmly but not tighter than where it stops.
3. either mark the place where the first mark rests on the top of the LT or (if your lucky) it will line up with a button.
4. simply turn the slit (groove?) in the brass colored center pin to that mark (or place).
Now you should have perfect air flow. Mine is not too tight, not too airy. Each time you want to put your tank on your LT simply turn that slit to the same spot. If you used a mark you will soon learn where the spot is in reference to something. For instance my spot is approx. 1/8 inch to the right of the right edge of the fire button.
OR use an adapter or tank cone. But I knew it could be done!!
While the 18350 might not be listed on the XTAR WPII box, Orbtronic.com, the battery and charger supplier, has added it to the write-up of the WPII on their website. They also found out who was buying all their WPII's and Panasonic 18650's because the website also now specifically mentions ecigs and vaporizers on the write-ups for these products. As of 7/17/12 @12:30PM EDT they were out of stock on both these items but Sal from Orbtronic.com says they are both ordered and he expects them in shortly.
A bit off top but what the heck, sue me.
An interesting new VV PV from eGo, Super Variable Voltage eGo
If this unit works a well as the eGo twist it should be a great beginners VV PV with adjustable volts from 3v to 6v just like the big boys.
