The 3.5Amp limit switch in the Provari would be a good place to start to compare, as well as the electronic chip they use, not including the beautiful looking body of the Provari vs Lava,,,,,,, Money well spent on the Provari all day long.

My understanding is that this is only on the V2 models (at least as far as switch + regulator limit) prior to that they both used 2.5A limit.

LavaTube is priced with box mods. If you would really buy a top of the line Corvette or Caddy buy the Proveri. If you'd really end up buying a V8 Mustang or Passat then get the LT. Used LTs are all over the place. I picked up a 'spare' the other day for $50 with batteries.

I'd throw the Buzz Pro in here also if I were looking. I actually like how you adjust voltage on it better.

Will I ever get a Provari... maybe. I like the theory behind the Darwin better but that's another story for another day.

Provari is the top dog on the food chain today, no doubt. I just haven't gotten myself acclimated to wallet pain it would inflict.
