I have actually emailed BigDaddyVapor when I ordered some of his tank caps recently, and I told him that I am happy the list is going to some good use. I am not looking for any glory here. Obviously, it's not a drawn conclusion that any of the juices listed will causes cracks, KBV Hummingbird Nectar as an example. It doesn't bother me...
I like that Big Daddy Vapor put this list in their polycarbonate link, even though the lack of a source link is unadulterated plagiarism. :)

I understand what you meant. :) Three tanks shattered, yeah...

Now that you mention it a tank or 2 would be nice...LOL
Again, I said that I like that they're including it, as opposed to e.g. Vaporescence who continues to claim, "we have had three tanks ... shatter". Just saying, you've put a lot of effort into composing and maintaining the list... A tip of the hat would be nice. ;)

So does anyone know if juices like apple, mango, strawberry etc. crack tanks? I would think they would have citrus in them which is on the list. Just being paranoid since I have my new tank on the way.

I also have a vanilla I LOVE but it also has a cinnamon taste for some reason. Should this be safe?

Has anyone ever tried acrylic tubing instead of polycarbonate? Results?

Thanks.

I diy, so I know exactly what is in my juices. In some cases, I have found that the percentage of an offending flavor can also be a factor. The higher the % of the flavor, the more likely cracking is. Sometimes, a certain juice will crack a tank for person A, but person B has no trouble. I guess the answer is, I don't know.

Hoping someone has used backwoods brew cola and root beer in a polycarbonate carto tank cuz I want to try some. I love these cola flavors and I love tanks. The list above mentions tpa flavorings fogging/ cracking tanks so if anyone has had success/ failure with bwb please let me know. I had Ave root beer crack a tank, but virgin vapor root beer float at 50/50 is fine. However, the flavor is a bit weak. Also vape-a-licious cola has been fine for me but I want to try kbv cola and others too. TIA, bump

fwiw from the compiled list I have found vape-a-licious gbc to be fine at 50/50 and vermillion river kentucky premium and caramel capp to also be fine

anyone who cares I've now run two full 3ml tankfulls of bwb root beer with no fogging/ cracking and enough to be sure of kbv crisp cola too

LorAnns Butter Rum in a 1:3 mixing ratio cracked my DCT MAP in 2 days time. First the polycarbonate tubing appears cloudy at the inner surface level of the tubing, next it appeared to almost have some sort of enzymatic reaction with the tubing in circles along the depths of the delrin posts. Late into the 48h after the juice was first put into my pristine DCT from MAP, the polycarbonate had about 20-30 little hairline fractures all over the tubing in places where only juice was making contact, So polycarbonate tubing beyond the exterior o-rings on the delrin caps remained stress, blemish, end full-blown crack free.

Does anyone know if menthol flavors or menthol drops have any effect on the polycarbonate tank? Got some tanks for friends as a gift but don't want to see them bust them after a few uses. They use Dekang juices and menthol drops from Juicy Liquid. Since the drops are diluted in PGA I'm a little concerned since I think I saw a post saying alcohol clouds polycarbonate.

Thanks

I don't know about the menthol drops, but as of today, I can confirm that isopropyl alcohol does indeed crack tanks, so don't attempt to clean the polycarbonate with it. :( :( :(

What I've found is that the tanks I diy out of rubber grommets,o rings and polycarbonate dont crack the tanks.I think I'ts the derlin and SS.When the o rings expand from the juice that puts presure on the tank and with the hard derlin and ss theres no give thous cracking the tank. The diy aren't as pretty but I haven't replaced a tank for over 3 months now. Just my 2cents.

It may be the case that the inflexible caps put the final nail in the coffin of the tank and cause the final large crack, but the preceding reaction with ingredients in the juice weakened it to such an extent that this is inevitable. There is visible degradation prior to the resulting split

The phenomenon is known as "Environmental Stress Cracking" and is apparently a fairly well known issue with polymers.
Environmental Stress Cracking of Plastics & Polymers

Corrosive agents listed include:
Adhesives, paints, lacquers, lubricants, cleaning agents, aerosol sprays, anti-rust agents, leak detection fluids, vegetable oils, fruit essences, inks, plasticisers

The 5/8" id x 3/4" od polypropylene tubing from McMasters is a wonderful replacement. I got 4-1' lengths, enough to make lots of tubes, for only $9.36. It's the same material used for syringes, and will not crack. It looks like frosted glass. It has a very slight curve in it, but after cutting, it's not even noticeable. Males beautiful tubes for Liquinators, J Tanks, Lil Mama's, etc..., any of the tanks that take a 5/8" id tubing, which is just about all of them.

I'm looking for a replacement tubing for the DCTanks in polypropylene, and can't find any. Their tubing has unusual dimensions. The id is either 18mm or 11/16".

Going a bit further towards a duct tape tank. :)
  1. Take a 6ml juice bottle like so
  2. Cut the cylinder out by removing both ends. The bottle is almost exactly the same height as the 3ml liquinator
  3. Insert caps

It's actually kinda nice because you can squonk your tank if you're having any drying inside.
