mount baker Vapor responded back to me in an email saying, "Citrus, Cinnamon, soda, black licorice, and amaretto are all known to cause problems with plastic tanks" from their store.

Yeah I was loving their cola until the tank cracked.

I used Flavor West Ecto Cooler at 12% with 5% TPA Hawaiin Punch and it cracked my Vape Only BCC in about 15 minutes. I got 2 small cracks and they were getting bigger when I dumped the juice and rinsed it out. It was a 60pg/40vg blend if that matters. I'm pretty sure it was the Ecto and not the Hawaiin Punch but I thought I'd let you guys know.

ya. idealy something like the link below. full pH 1-14 test. if it is acid that is causing cracking and not a chemical reactions, maybe its possible to establish a threshold below which tanks will crack or melt

To my knowledge what happens when these flavors come into contact with polycarbonate, it is a chemical reaction not related to pH, which is all a litmus test does is test for pH.

Im curious if anyone would be able to tell me if they know if a few flavors would crack plastic. Normally i dont have to worry because I use SS tanks, or PETG tanks most often. However I will be getting a couple of IClear 30s soon and to my knowledge they are reactive.

The juices im curious about are all from Rawr vapor and they would be...

Dawn of Truth (my favorite juice)

Cinna-cream (real cinnamon, not red hot type)

And Antidote

Dawn of truth and Antidote are the two I was concerned with due to the banana in Dawn, and antidote being a blueberry lemonade flavor.

It is part of their truth serum line yes, its banana, coconut, cream though instead of pear.it almost tastes more like the banana you would get in a laffy taffy instead of like a fresh banana.

I figured that the lemonade might not be good, but the cinnomon i asked about because i have heard that natural cinnomon is usually ok, but red hot candy type is sure to crack.

yea I think you're right about the cinnamon, I vape stuff with cinnamon in it a lot with no problem but it's the sweet kind.

I've always read that oil based flavors will kill atties but... rba's... sooo...

There is no visible vapor when EXHALING this flavor. I made 2 similar juices (all the nasties with TFA's triacitin ) and the one containing tangerine (oil) made nice clouds for puffing o-rings.... but never was visible on the exhale. Im scared.

My aim is to compile a list of juice and flavorings that may cause problems as far as cracking, fogging, or etching polycarbonate tanks. Anything listed here may cause your polycarbonate tank to be damaged. I am primarily focused on the polycarbonate tanks, although this info may apply to other tanks.

I am certainly not attempting to ban any flavors or ejuices. I'm just trying to help out some folks who continue use polycarbonate tank systems.

***Most, if not all, polycarbonate plastic by nature uses BPA in its manufacturing You can read about BPA leaching from plastics. Just google BPA. IMHO, it's just another good reason to move away from polycarbonate material.

Polypropylene is my personal choice for tank tubing because it it inexpensive and durable. This is the same material that is used to make syringes. Polypropylene tubing can be purchased here: McMaster-Carr. You can use 5/8"id x 3/4od for Liquinator tanks, Lil mama tanks, Big daddy tanks, Jtanks, and others. This tubing has a very slight curve to it, but will not be noticeable when cut to a short length. The popular DCTanks can now be found made from polypropylene tubing. Polypropylene will not crack from a chemical reaction from using juices on this list. For some reason, most vendors are not stating the fact that these are made from polypropylene. IMO this is an excellent selling point that they are missing... These tanks can be used with some XL cartos, or they can be easily cut down to fit a standard sized carto, my personal preference, since I have a few dozen tanks, and I can't afford the pricier ones.

Glass tanks are also a wonderful alternative.

I am personally not familiar with the Vision Stardust type tanks or any of the clearomizer types. From what I hear, they are polycarbonate and folks seem to be having the same issues with cracking/frosting. I am also not familiar personally with Vivi Nova's, since I have found my happy place with polypropylene DCTanks.

All of the ejuice/flavors listed below have been reported by at least one ecf member to cause problems for them. YMMV.

Perfumer's Apprentice lists triactetin as in ingredient in some of their flavors, so be sure to check that out. Triacetin has caused problems for many members.

Disclaimer: These are not "bad" juices. They just have the potential to cause cracking in tank systems using polycarbonate tubing.
