Ian's a good guy.

Ian's a GREAT guy!

As I mentioned, back at the end of December I ordered a Touchwood 18650.

While awaiting it's completion and delivery (at the time I ordered my Touchwood, I was told there was a six to eight week backorder), I came across another modder, who is now on this site, and goes by WoodWorm, and creates some outrageous box mods he affectionately calls The Gepetto VV, Gepetto VV Maxi and several others!

Being a man of little willpower... I ordered a Gepetto VV, as well! That was about three weeks ago.

Talk about "when it rains, it pours...." BOTH mods arrived in todays mail!

I'll let the photos do the talking... (I added a ProVari to the photo, for a comparison of overall size)

A few quick thoughts....
Gepetto VV
  • It is amazingly easy to change what voltage you're vapping at, with this device. Think "ProVari" electronics, in a hand-crafted, beautiful wooden box!
  • Stainless steel button has very good tactile feel... it isn't very clicky, but it's firm and so far, has fired every time!
  • Love the fact that every time you take a vap, the remaining battery charge is displayed!
Touchwood
  • Polished Brass caps on the top and bottom simply look stunning, especially combined with the deep, dark Australian Jarrah wood.
  • Button is small, but firm and provides user with a reassuring click each time you press it!
  • The size of this mod is really amazing. It just fits perfectly in your hand, with the button within easy access.
  • Battery removal and insertion is very easy!

Anyone considering either one of these beauts, if you pull the trigger, you won't regret it!

Last thing... both Ian, of Touchwood and WoodWorm, of Gepetto were a pleasure doing business with, and kept me appraised of the progress of devices.

I really like the touchwoods - the brass ends just feel right and simplistic to boot, but I do not quite understand the ordering from overseas bit. Guess it makes me gun shy... How does it work?

You email him that you want one. He says "ok". He emails you when it's ready with the cost + shipping (surprisingly cheap on shipping). You pay the man. You have a new Touchwood in about 2 weeks. :)

Hey Shel, marry me and share your mods? ;)

What made you decide on the 18650 TW rather than the mini? I know someday I will own one, but I'm still in debate mode over the two.

Kat...
I really prefer 5v. vaping. With the Touchwood 18650, you can (and I DID) purchase 4.7v batteries which are the same size as the 18650's, and you can get close to 5v. vaping out of the device. What I've found is, without even realizing it, I always set my variable voltage devices to somewhere between 4.0 and 5.0 volts.

Also, with the Touchwood 18650, I figured if I needed it, or wanted it, I could always add a Step to the mod, and presto! I have a variable voltage Touchwood! Frankly, so far, with the amazing amount of vapor I'm getting from the 4.7v batteries, the desire to spend the extra $$$ for The Step is diminishing! :vapor:

Plus.... (as if that weren't enough) I was somewhat worried that the smaller one, with the 18350 or 16340 batteries, might not give me adequate battery life. That's a minor problem, though, because honestly, carrying around a spare of one of those batteries shouldn't be much of an issue.

The Touchwood mini IS a cute bugger! However, the TW18650 is STILL very slim and easy to carry around!

Hi, I think your mods are beautifully and I am sure that anyone who see's these will agree. Your workmanship is super. I Am sure everyone would be proud to own one. I am not positive but I think there are a lot of people struggling because of the economy still. So please do not take to heart that things are slow right now, I bet once thinks are looking better for a lot of us u will not be able to keep up with your orders . So do not give up on us, just try to be patient with us. Keep up with the hard work u put into these and it will be worth it. Good luck
