On another note, from what I've gleaned off other discussions is the V3 has a 5 amp limit regardless of battery. It seems they are really able to pump out the power. Too bad they went with the chamfored top with the pips. Not my thing at all.

I slapped a MM on there to test things out. There is a ceiling that kind of follows the pattern that you saw in the V2, but just a little higher. I could only test with my low resistance stuff, but it pretty much followed what you saw here, but slide up a bit higher.

My IGO reads 1.5 ohms (both Vamo and MM)... with that on there, measuring across the posts, the max voltage I got was 4.55v. So that's 13.8w with a 3.25 amp draw.. under load. That's with a single, fresh Efest 2250 mah IMR 18650 battery. Now, I popped a Efest IMR 18350 800 mah battery on there and I got the exact same voltage peak.... so with both the 18650 and 18350, it'll get to 4.5/4.6 but stop.

Now... STACKED 18350s (Efest IMR 18350)... I don't stack batteries, but I have two of them sitting here, fully charged. Both have been cycled evenly, so for a quick test, they'll do. They have an 8C rating, so the Vamo would cut out almost 1.5 amps before their max. With stacked 18350s, I just dialed it up to 6v and gave it a whirl.... 5.55v, under load. That works out to a hair over 20w (3.7A). I didn't play around with it much since I still had a wet wick in that thing and those little balls of lava juice shooting on my pigs-in-a-blanket microcoil sting. :)

I popped my RSST, read 1.25 ohms.... 4.2v was the peak on both sizes. But with stacked 350s.... 5.6v... which is a good 25w(!!!!) and close to the Vamo's amp limit of 5A.

I wish I had something 2 or 2.5 ohms that I could get a reading on... I would be curious to see. how it rolls at higher resistances. The highest I have is 1.5 ohms.

I don't know if anyone saw the Pics of previous coil: 32g wire, 3/4 wrap, 1.5 ohm coil, 3 strands 2 or 2.5mm silica (don't remember exact wick size, but know it's bigger than the 1.5mm), so I'm bumping the link up again.

Still had leaking on the second tank, actually from two different places. Not only was it leaking from the air hole, there was an every so slight leak from the fill hole as well. I got a slight gurgle about half way through the tank, then it would start leaking out the air hole. (I did finish the tank of Cin City that was tasting sooooo good!)

I believe I stopped the fill hole leak by wrapping some plumbers tape round the screw threads. There is no o-ring for that, is there? No? Didn't think so.

Made a new coil. This time we have 32g wire, 4/5 wrap, 1.8 ohm coil, 2 strands of 1.5mm silica. No leaks yet - we'll see how it holds up tomorrow. I made this one differently than the first. In the first one I followed the video, Bronze put up to a tee. This time I wrapped the coil round a 7/64 inch nail, set up on the atty, then pulled the wick through. To trim the wick I fed the ends through the chamber tube and cut it even with the top of the tube, then gently pushed them back down to deck.

Like I said, we'll see how it holds up tomorrow...

Chakster, yank a spare fill hole screw out of your spare parts sack and replace the one you have in your Kayfun. I saw some griping about those screws on the KFL site.

Yep, those fill holes tend to be a weak point in the vacuum. I have had that issue as many others have. My fix was to screw it tightly every time I fill. I haven't had an issue since. Some have found that spare screws work, but I think a little extra torque does the job. If that is venting pressure, then the chamber will likely flood and you'll get liquid coming out the air intake eventually. Try tightening that screw down firmly (or continue using Teflon tape). I bet that fixes your issues nicely. If not, take a look at your builds. The KFL is meticulously machined. I haven't heard of any flaws with it other than the fill screw.

(((Chak))) I hope you get your leaking issue figured out soon. I haven't had even a drop of liquid leak. In fact..I have to confess my second KFL should arrive tomorrow:facepalm: Sold a Zen to cover the cost of my new favorites so I can justify it. On a serious note I really like to have a minimum of two flavors going through the day so this should get me set up.

You guys have shown me the light:laugh:

Actually, the first time I ever heard of Kayfun was from X...several months ago. I thought, what a goofy name. And it's just X checking out everything that comes out on the market. He's a self-admitted gear geek yuh know. He got one and praised it. Then a few other guys got it and praised it so I had to jump on the bandwagon. I'm not sorry I did.

Duh, :?: hadn't occurred to me.... There's 3 spare fill hole screws in that sack! But no spare screws for the atty? What's up with that?

Right now, the Teflon tape is doing the trick along with a new wick and coil. Vaped it exclusively all day today and even took it to Home Pro with me. Not a drop wasted, or leaked all day. :D :vapor::headbang:

Thanks, IG got it under control now. Oh, hey congrats on the 2nd KFL!!! I'm gonna try the Kayfun Mini, again in a couple of months. Got to get a VV replacement for a dying VAMO soon first. ;) Prolly a Provari.

She doesn't play! She's a vaping rock star. And she does it quietly and with class.

Cute, RJ!! :toast:

This is my KFL wick/coil setup. As you can see, there is nothing pretty about it (I've had probably 8 - 10 tanks from this wick so far). But she hits like a freight train.

Coil: 30 ga Kanthal, 10 wrap microcoil, 2.0 mm inside diameter, 1.9 ohms
Wick: four strands of 1mm silica (double strand fed with fish tape to make fours strands)

Well I got my second KFL today and set it up. The device itself is just as beautiful and leak free as the original..however my setup not so much. My first wick I used a Nextel and this time used an Ekowool. The Ekowool was much messier to work with, frayed terribly. The first few hits were very dry. Now a few minutes later the vape is better but not as good. I have about four different types of wicking material to try so now know I won't use this one again. It has settled down so it will be fine until I get through this tank. I have another type of ekowool to try that does look more like the Nextel so may give it a go next time.

Keep us posted IA. I find cotton or silica work equally well. Never tried ekowool.

I've been struggling with Ekowool too. IG, which ones do you have? You said you had two different kinds? I didn't know they had multiple kinds..

This is the one I bought: High Quality Genuine Ekowool

I've got 24' of 3mm and 2mm each. They seems to do really well in drippers, but not so much in the K-Lite. Silica works better on the K-Lite, I've found.

Ekowool Silica cord

The above is the one I'm having problems with Now I have another Ekowool to try that a friend sent me a sample of and it looks more like what you have. We'll see... I know I don't like how much it frayed when working with it.
I think for me in the future if something falls apart that much when I'm trying to make a wick I'll just set it aside. Like you Dusty I'm not clear on what all 'kinds' of Ekowool etc are available. Guess when I decide which type I like best I just need to order a little stash. Lord knows if I ever get into trouble I have crocheted for years so can always find the cotton yarn on hand. Maybe it's the way to use up all the little balls left after a project:laugh:

Dust, you asked for a pix of my set up. Did you see my mess a few posts above yours? There it is.

Yeah, I was swamped at work, and could not respond. So, I'm guessing that you rinsed and dry burned that "mess" before posting a pic of it right? Did you rinse/dry burn it at some point during the 10 day period too? Or, was it in the chimney for 10 days straight?

Edit: I'll show you what 2 days of Southern Gentleman in a K-Lite does to 3mm Ekowool. Give me a few mins to get it uploaded. :)
