As requested: Here's the whole set.

AGA T2 with 3mm Silica by Chakris1, on Flickr

Single 3mm strand, wicks just ok - would be better with two strands. Design on the blackboard now. :matrix:

I think it would burn more evenly if the coil was horizontal and curved slightly towards the side with the other end going down into the hole on the other side. Maybe, I'll utilise that taller ground screw as well.

What you just described is how silica is supposed to be set up in a genny. Plus, that's what the raised post is for on the opposite side. It's for setting up silica wicks with a more horizontal coil.

I'm still fiddling with the vmod, and the learning curve is not my friend.. however... when I get it to work without flooding it is quite pleasant. I am mentally having a hard time, putting my mouth on an object that looks like a lighter, where the flame would come out and hitting an on button. I cringe and think... there goes my face! It's going to get blown off this time. So far it hasn't happened. You will all be the first to know when it does :)

Well April, you're pretty enough that you can blow your face off and still be gorgeous...but you wont blow your face off. Trust me (us)! Just think, in about a week, you'll be so good with that VMOD that you will be able to come back to this thread and teach the noobs how to use it. Maybe even me!!! :)

This is what I think nearly every time I put a freshly charged battery on a 0.7ohm genesis coil. :p

Nice set of flutes. Did you build those?

Maybe it is just broke?
Hmmmm. That might have something to do with the probs I was having?

I have think of a good reason that it might not be working besides user error!

Another question...

What is a good alternative cleaning fluid for atomizers to alcohol-based liquids? I'm thinking citrus but then it will leave a taste. Any other suggestions?

Alcohol is really the best for cleaning attys. Acids aren't good. Boiling is a waste of time. Alcohol breaks down the remaining juice. I use vodka and soak for about an hour. It dries pretty fast and leaves no taste. I prime with pure PG after. You can use isopropyl to soak. It will work faster but you have to make sure it's all evaporated before you refill.

EDIT: I said acids weren't good, but I was thinking strong acids (like lemon juice). Vinegar would work but you would want to rinse the heck out of it after the soak. Vinegar can linger. White vinegar doesn't linger as much as others, though.

Do you use/can get Ever Clear? If not what brand Vodka?

I used to use our cappuccino steamer to clean atties when I used to use them. Best damn thing ever.. total flush and atties come out almost dry after steaming. I've seen or read of folks buying those little mini Shark steamers and using those too. Prefer steam to the alcohol soak and wash method.

Note: Added bonus was whole kitchen smelling of Geoffs Blend once the steaming was done! :D

I would use everclear but it's pretty expensive, and I don't drink so it's kind of a waste. I buy the cheapest 100 proof vodka I can find. Vodka is super filtered so there aren't any impurities no matter the quality.

Never thought of that. Just be careful the pressure doesn't mess up the guts of the atty.

I've hit it full blast on dozens of atties without any issues. Make sure you are using silicone tongs to hold em for two reasons: 1) they don't slip 2) you don't burn yourself with steam.
