I am going to have to experiment again, now I am thinking maybe I didnt have enough wick when I tried it the way you done it. I just had 1 2mm strand of ekowool.

I am currently using 2mm inside diameter coil, with 2 strands of 1mm silica draped down to the deck and then folded back up even with the coil on both sides. Sounds like we might have about the same amount of total wick, just in a different configuration?

**edit**
I also use 20/80 pg/vg

The 2-strand pull through (yielding four strands) is tight. Got to hang a fingernail over the exiting side of the coil and pull hard to get it through. When I first did it, I thought it was way too tight and had no chance of working. But it worked perfectly fine. The other thing is the wick gets better with age as it frazzles. The first couple of mls has that wick taste but it subsides. And because the silica is durable you don't have to change but every couple/few months. Good for the lazy person. :)

And in the end, you found a build that works for your 20/80. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Are you serious couple/few months?!?!?!?!

I have been changing mine every 2 or 3 tanks when I dry burned to clean up the coil. I was about to switch to cotton yarn because of the price. I feel like a ..... now for throwing out perfectly good wick!!!

Silica is glass. It's nearly indestructible as wicking material and it can be dry burned. I still rinse and dry burn after 2 or 3 tanks but I don't have to rebuild anything. IMO silica improves with age. It gets fluffy as it unravels (as you could see in the photo I posted). Acts like a mop. :)

Well... The problem with running wick all over the place is how long the juice has to travel before it gets to the coil. If you have the wick go across the deck and back over, then any juice in that extra part of the wick has to work its way down the wick, past the deck again and back up to the coil. It might work against you since that extra wick might pull some juice up before the GOOD part of the wick (between the deck and the coil) gets juice... all that wick has juice moving away from the coil, not towards it.

That diagram that you see in the Kayfun 3.1 instructions? That, to me, is the most efficient way to get things built out. Ideally, the only wick that you have is on the deck (therefor getting saturated when juice feeds in) and as direct a shot to the coil as possible. It's the same way for an RDA. I've seen people pack the hell out of the deck with cotton or silica, with the expectation that the RDA would hold more juice. It might hold more juice, but the wick that's in the coil might run dry before that juice 4 miles away gets a chance to work its way down.

Now, with 100% VG... the viscosity might work against you, wicking-wise... in those cases, you might want a larger coil and a larger wick diameter (and a little looser I would guess) so that you have more wick to suck up that juice... but you should still keep the wick between the coil and the deck to a minimum.

Just my thought on matters.

Torching or dry burning silica would probably be enough to get rid of any impurities to be honest... There isn't much that won't get burned off by the time the silica is glowing and there's no smoke or wisps of anything coming off the coil/wick.

If only there was a silica wick material that could be worked like cotton fibers... that would make like so much easier... I'm hesitant to fill my cotton micro KFC with Legend... NETs can foul a cotton wick fairly quickly (and dry burning is obviously not an option). I got Cinful Apple, which is super clean, in there now, but my current supply is dwindling quickly.

I found an answer to that issue I run silica from the tank to a bed of cotton ( which get super wet) and use silica in the coil... when things get gunky ( yes that is a technical term) I remove the cotton bed and dry burn the coil/silica and replace the cotton ( must be at least .5ml stored in it ;) ) and back to some juicy vapin'...

BTW its an RSST

Leo I get about 2 tanks out of my boiled cotton ball wicks before I dry burn and rewick , I could probably get more out of it but I usually change flavors any way , besides cotton is dirt cheap and super easy to rewick , I'm at 20/80 with my Legend so it's still a thick juice but HHV NET's do burn clean .

Yup Bronze is serious , the only reason I'm using cotton now is only having the one kfc cotton is easier to rewick but when I remedy that situation I'll go back to silica being the lazy vaper that I am .

My husband wants a kayfun lite (or Clone) the question is do i pay the crazy price here in the states? or do i order him one from Fast Tech and if so what is the best model to get any advice would be appreciated
    :2cool:
By all accounts, the genuine Kayfun Lite is better quality. The FT clones are not as nice. However, they work and provide an excellent vape. I'm not in charge of your wallet so I can't spend your money. If you can swing it, go for the gusto and get a genuine Kayfun Lite (I recommend InTaste...they're the cheapest and fastest). If money is an issue, then get the FT clone. But be forewarned, FT takes a long time to ship (their shipping route, not FT themselves). 2 - 4 weeks. Ultimately Jerri, it's your call.

One other alternative is the ECF Classifieds. There were three for sale earlier tonight for $85 each...

Both the 3.1 and the kayfun lite clones from Fastech provide an excellent vape but you will want aftermarket screws for them but they are the best bang for the buck , FT ships quick but the postal system is slow , took 2 weeks for the last order to arrive but it's free shipping , you can pay 50 dollars at a US vendor for the same clones and get it faster , but if you can afford it the genuine Kayfuns are the way to go better hardware with them and resale value , if you decide on a clone come back and I'll give you links for replacement screws they're cheap .

    Jerri,
Another option is the Tobeco kayfun lite clone (actually a Russian 91% clone). It is a bit cheaper and you may be able to find one in stock somewhere. I have one and have been very pleased.

Venerable Vaping has these for $36. I ordered mine on New years day, and it shipped out today. Also picked up a Fogger V2 for $19 from VV. Just waiting for my HHV order to ship so I have some HA to put inside :)

I second that. I got mine state-side from VapeRev, but they're not in stock for very long - they'll get in a shipment & a few days later they'll be sold out. Hard to say when they'll be back in; the last shipment sold out maybe 3 weeks ago or thereabouts. I signed up for their in stock notification since I don't have the extra cash for a 2nd one yet, but I'll probably jump on it when they do.

InTaste will run out of them too. Those things can't be made quick enough.

The zmax just does watts. When I first went vv I went thru 2 vmax in less then 2 months. They both died in 23 days.

Got my atomo clone a few days back.
Out of the box they were disgusting and dirty. First pic you can see the tube on left is cleaned while the others are nasty.
Second pic they all cleaned up with nevrdull.
Final pic was this morning. Brushed the tube on the left and tossed in oven for 30 minutes at 550°(highest it went) and I think it came out fantastic.
