The Russian line was not developed by the creator(s) of the Kayfun. There was never a split in the Svoemesto company and the original developers (one from Russia and one from Germany) are still in business together. The "Russian" brand of atomizers was a copied design and comes out of China. All other speculation is complete rumor.
Nah..... that would mean that all the people buying the "Russian" stuff are dropping 5x the dough on pretty much the same bit of kit that I got from FT (While my KFC works AWESOME, I wouldn't pay $100 for it)
That's correct. The manu of the Russian impose strict MSRP preventing resellers from undercutting the market. The competing factories in China have the ability to flood the market with ones you see on Cr@ptech, which is why those clone prices are so low. The Kayfun is manufactured in far smaller numbers and uses higher grade steel than the Russian including any clone. I have Russians and Kayfuns. The Russian is a good atty. Although it has improvements in design, the Kayfun still beats it. Most don't or can't tell the difference. Discerning enthusiasts can. When it comes to quality, there are simply those who are willing to pay for it and those who aren't.

To my understanding, the Kayfun uses A4 stainless steel (marine grade) and the Russian uses the more common A2 grade. A2 grade is a good grade of steel. It's the clones which likely use 303 grade steel. The latter has less corrosion resistance than the others and can be machined much quicker, allowing for more production and less wear on tooling. It's a common steel in Chinese products.

I'd like to get a metal needle tip to fill the KFMini, but I think HHV's needle tips are too small - it would have to make a fairly good seal before you can squeeze the juice in.
InTastes super-slim plastic needle tips work ok, but they get rather bent up if you're not careful.
Anybody know the gauge of that fill hole on the Kayfuns?
And where to procure said needle top?

16 ga would be best. 18 works.
It's been a month since I returned my defective SVD to SlowTech. Still haven't heard a peep. Just wrote them to see what's up.
I see on SlowTech's website they will be closed January 25 - February 4 for holiday. I'd need my head examined to ever buy anything from them again. Crap goes obsolete by the time it gets to your door.

Looking at the hole, I'd bet that the ID is a 12-14g. I've been using an old V4L bottle (the short 30mL with the plastic needle tip) to fill mine. The problem is that is a higher density plastic & doesn't hold up to the abuse as well. It has a pretty narrow opening too, but I'm not looking to break any speed records filling mine, so it works.
This is what I use. Works fine. Isn't the fastest but like Oz says I'm not looking to break records. It's faster than Adam's skinny needles.

Thanks Bronze! Just to confirm though - We're referring to using the needle tip on the fill hole (valve) on the side of the KF Mini, same hole (valve) as on the KF 3.1. Right?
I have no problem with the fill hole on the bottom the KFL or KFL Plus, only the one on the side of the Mini. I tried using the syringe that came with the (whatchamacallit) CE3? and and it's too small. It'll go into the hole/valve, but doesn't make a seal and juice just runs down the outside.
Maybe a 16 gauge might be big enough.
