Lol @ Oz on the amazon shopping!

did my first micro coils tonight. 30g on both, 1/16th for the KFM-1.8ohm and 5/64t2.0ohm for the KFL. Critiques and recommendations welcome. vaping extremely well tho.

It starts as full size but then shrinks after you refresh it....most of the time anyway. It is wonky.

Your build is awesome! Beautiful work. Do use use that Wally World yarn in it (or whatever that stuff is).?

Good job on the coil, Bridget! What gauge wire is that?

8/9 I think. Yes, when I bought my KFL you told me to get 30g for micro coils. I just never mastered the micro until tonight. In my defense, I only tried one other time.

Microcoils are easier than non-microcoils. I pinch the coils together using the PV instead of torching. But you have to make sure you don't grab the coil while you have the fire button pressed.

Technically, they are not microcoils because they are too big to qualify. But they are wrapped like a microcoil so that's why people call them microcoils. I think ours are minicoils. Whatever. Like I care. :)

I'm shot. I'm so tired I can't even see straight. Now I know what it feels like to be Chak. :)

Goodnight Bridget. Definitely nice work on that microcoil. Real pretty. I forgot, did you use a drill bit to wrap it on?

Yep. You are tired! 5/64ths on the KFL and 1/16th on the KFM. (see original post..:D)

I'm exhausted too. Goodnight.

Are we talking original cylon or most recent? Love my some BSG.

The original was really cheesy & the cylons were shorter/rounder. The CylonVari is tall & skinny, so I would have to say the more recent edition. After much debate in another thread, I've settled on calling the Stealth, 'Zoe'. Now I just have to Cerakote one of the KFL's for it... which will probably be a while yet.

Not that I care either, but I think I read that 1/16" ID was the largest you could call a micro. But really, who's deciding this. Call it a coil. Or a squirrel. Or a suspension bridge.

I was wrapping them pretty small for a while, but I find I get much better flavor when I wrap them a little larger. I think I'm at a 3/32" now.

Seriously...who makes these rules? Some dude makes up a spreadsheet and it becomes gospel and the flock is right there to correct you when you call it something different than what the spreadsheet says. :)

I'm dialed in at 5/64ths. Seems to be the best for me but I'm sure there is plenty of wiggle room.

Yeah, but that's not a squirrel coil... more of a possum.

I just use the term for the technique , I don't give a rat's azz if somebody has objections to that or not , it's another reason to hang out here in the HHV subforum , I think I'll puke if I read another thread on proper vaping technique , unbelievable the crap people argue over .

    +1 very much so.

I agree.... The whole "microcoil" moniker is odd...Microcoils are HUGE. What is so 'micro' about a 1/16th diameter 10 wrap 28g coil? That coil is larger than anything you'll find in the clearo world. And what makes 3/32 NOT a microcoil? At this point, I just call them ALL microcoils for lack of a better term... I can see that if you start to make them to large, things start to get wonky, but even at 5/64th, they work great... but it isn't the diameter that is so groundbreaking, it's that they are pressed together.

When I first started rebuilding my Evod coils, all I read was "OHMAGHERDDONTTOUCHTHECOILS"... I caught the whole microcoil thing as it started to build up some steam and read the explanations why that was total BS and that the coils can touch without issue. Made sense to me. :)

So for me, a name more representative of the design - compact coils most often with cotton wicking - and not the size, is needed.
