Welp, my Lavatube V2.0 just arrived DOA. So Imma get a refund on that. To make myself feel better I just said eff it and bit the bullet on a Provari. Got in Satin Blue with a blue LED. Yeah.. I'm stoked.

Sometimes when life gives you a bowl of lemons, you just have to buy a Provari. Good decision.

Just ordered another YJ Lavatube. My current LT is about done. With the way I have treated it, there is no Earthly reason why it should be working at all. Another $40. Oh well.

I wonder if I can get the mod skinz off this one and put it on the new one?

You'll get it off but it might not be kosher anymore...

Strat made his first coil and wick for a Nova mini the other day. SS 500 mesh wick and a 30g 1.1 ohm coil. I had to try it and it hits and feeds juice like a genny but the vape gets hot really quick because there is no large air chamber on top. He has 32g Kanthal in the mail to get a more normal coil so he can run this on all his Ego batteries.

I was very impressed! Will have to try this myself. Rebuilding Nova heads have always scared me cuz everything is so small but Strat reports it is really easy (same as Bronze and some of you folks in here).

Today's vapemail: Two Kamry Telescopic Storms (aka "Chi Chis") and some JoyeTech eRoll kits.

The eRoll kits actually impressed me a little, to the extent that I can be impressed by a cig-alike with a tiny little battery that lasts as long as a cigarette would. They're not exactly the latest tech -- they use a small tank punctured by a separate atomizer, much like some eGo's do -- but that little battery can vape. Not on a par with big ones, mind you, but better than any other cig-alike I can recall trying before.

I confess I don't plan on holding onto the eRolls... they were bought cheap and the intent is to give them to people interested in seeing what vaping's like. At the $20 or so I paid for the four kits, I figure they'll give me a chance to look generous, and maybe get some people off smokes. Or they'll sit around collecting dust. Who knows?

The other purchase was the pair of Chi Chis. I bought one each of the chrome and brass-colored versions because I love the look og my two-toned GGTS, the mod of which these things are a blatant clone. Well, "clone" is a generous term for these. While they are plainly designed to look like a GGTS, and they're mechanical mods like a GGTS, they're no GGTS. The GGTS is a solid, heavy, well-built-mod, and even though there were two Chi Chis in the box they were shipped in, I was worried they'd somehow come out in transit. The box felt empty when I picked it up, because these things are built with so little metal I think you'd have a hard time filling two teeth with it.

The workmanship is also what you'd expect from a cheap knock-off mod. The threads are scratchy, the finish is marked and uneven, and the button is a failure waiting to happen (it's basically attached to the unit in the same way as a drywall anchor, practically guaranteeing it won't be long until it either falls out or slides so far out of position that the mod will either be permanently on, or permanently off, both of which are bad). The gold bottom cap had to be screwed on with so much force to get past the bad threading that I'll be surprised if I can ever take it off.

GG's on the left, Chi Chi's on the right. You can almost see how thin and flimsy these things are compared to the originals just by looking at the edges of the tubes.

What you mean almost. It's definitely apparent in the photo. Still i want one with a flat head

I don't know why they went with a tapered head... it's not like the thing they were copying has one. It does make the Terminator look pretty ridiculous (not to mention dangerously top-heavy) perched on one of these.

The Penelope isn't a bad fit, but I almost feel like I'm committing blasphemy putting it on one of them.

Two things I don't like in general; chrome and tapered connector heads. It's why I won't buy a Provari. If the Provari had a flat top version, I would have bought it a long time ago. I covet your GGs

I've always wanted a reo but I'm not sure If I'd care for bottom feeding.. Beautiful looking device which right now is out of my range..

I thought the same thing until my buddy got a vmod. He loves it and I think the bottom feeding is very handy.
