Today's vapemail: Two Kamry Telescopic Storms (aka "Chi Chis") and some JoyeTech eRoll kits.
The eRoll kits actually impressed me a little, to the extent that I can be impressed by a cig-alike with a tiny little battery that lasts as long as a cigarette would. They're not exactly the latest tech -- they use a small tank punctured by a separate atomizer, much like some eGo's do -- but that little battery can vape. Not on a par with big ones, mind you, but better than any other cig-alike I can recall trying before.
I confess I don't plan on holding onto the eRolls... they were bought cheap and the intent is to give them to people interested in seeing what vaping's like. At the $20 or so I paid for the four kits, I figure they'll give me a chance to look generous, and maybe get some people off smokes. Or they'll sit around collecting dust. Who knows?
The other purchase was the pair of Chi Chis. I bought one each of the chrome and brass-colored versions because I love the look og my two-toned GGTS, the mod of which these things are a blatant clone. Well, "clone" is a generous term for these. While they are plainly designed to look like a GGTS, and they're mechanical mods like a GGTS, they're no GGTS. The GGTS is a solid, heavy, well-built-mod, and even though there were two Chi Chis in the box they were shipped in, I was worried they'd somehow come out in transit. The box felt empty when I picked it up, because these things are built with so little metal I think you'd have a hard time filling two teeth with it.
The workmanship is also what you'd expect from a cheap knock-off mod. The threads are scratchy, the finish is marked and uneven, and the button is a failure waiting to happen (it's basically attached to the unit in the same way as a drywall anchor, practically guaranteeing it won't be long until it either falls out or slides so far out of position that the mod will either be permanently on, or permanently off, both of which are bad). The gold bottom cap had to be screwed on with so much force to get past the bad threading that I'll be surprised if I can ever take it off.
GG's on the left, Chi Chi's on the right. You can almost see how thin and flimsy these things are compared to the originals just by looking at the edges of the tubes.
