Hey X I noticed you using a grommet to tighten tension on your rsst spring. I have that issue as well and haven't put anything on there yet. Also I have noticed a small bit of juice seeping down the center post assembly, I believe. Don't wanna take apart the set up I have since its running so well but I can't figure out why my post is wet.

Thx for the pix by the way. I been hearing about the silica sleeving. Seems like it would do a great job.

What you see is my fix for the juice traveling down the center post. I replaced the Nylon insulator with a silicone insulator from an AGA-T2 spare parts bag. I then sanded down the Nylon insulator to size. I placed that (now a tiny Nylon washer) on top of the silicone inverted (shoulder facing down). When the post is installed, the spring compresses on the washer which expands the silicone insulator. No more leaking ever. Been that way for over a month without a drop.

So I am not the only one with that issue. Damn I thought I just got a bad one. I'll have to play with this one a bit. It's just running so good I don't wanna mess with it.

SS Phoenix V4 came in the mail today. I had no idea how tiny and "cute" these things were. It's going to look silly on anything but my SS Ego. So be it, it's not the only silly looking setup I have.

Anybody see anything wrong with charging 800mah IMR 18350 batteries on a Nitecore I2? The max output of the I2 is 0.5A according to the instructions.

I need some info from you SS mesh users: Are these not good for chain vapers?
I get a good hit, but then it takes forever to stop getting a burnt one. The juice
has only been in the tank about a half hour. Does it need to stay longer to soak
up? This is my first experience with mesh.

Your mesh isn't wicking fast enough. Assuming you're using a genesis, are you tilting? You should be if it's not keeping up with you. Keep the wick parallel to the ground with the air hole facing down and tilt 90 degrees to get juice to flow to the coil faster. The type of roll you do, the # mesh you use, how tight your coils are, how fast they heat up, and the juice thickness all play a roll. When using mesh, I used #500 mesh and rolled the wick very tight, almost solid, so that only a thin pin could travel through the center. Don't over-oxidize the mesh, and never quench or burn juice on it. That's not necessary and will only clog the mesh. Just flame the mesh before it's rolled and once after. Let it air-cool. That's what I can tell you without knowing your exact setup. It really is a learning curve until you get the feel of how it all works together. That's why so many of us have jumped to cable wicks. No wicking issues, and the results are predictable and repeatable. Good luck, Biv.

I'm sorry if this has been answered but where do I get cable wick and possibly a link to learn about it on the E C F. :) thanks buds.
I'm really like the mesh. I tilt it or flip it upside down for a quick second but once these things break in they just work well.

I can send you some cable. I have some 3/32 and 1/8 304 stainless. Send me a SASE with $0.46 postage and I'll cut you some wicks. Let me know the sizes and lengths. Read about it all in the Wire Rope thread.

I tried this, and I'm still getting burnt hits. I'm using the wick that came with it
already installed. I guess I'll have to buy some wick and try it myself cuz this is
not going to work. Thanks for the info.

Then my guess is the mesh isn't fine enough for fast wicking. Use 500 mesh. Most pre-installed use 400 or 325. If you're using really thick juice. that can be an issue. I don't have any issues with HHV liquids.

I'm having great luck using 400 mesh with 100% VG HHV juice. I don't even have to tilt until the last quarter of the tank.

I'm looking forward to the 500 that is on it's way. I might be tilt free in the near future.

I've tossed the 1.4 ohm coil and wick that came stock with my new Phoenix V4. I made a new coil with 29G Kanthal, doubled up 2.5mm silica wick, running at 1.1 ohms on a fresh 18650. This 2 week old 12mg Tuscan Cocoa is quite tasty, as were the older HHV juices I've tried in it. I thought it would taste burnt/bad, but it's great! 2 to 3 second puffs are making the same or more vapor as 6 to 7 second puffs with 2.2ohm 32g at 4.2V (8W). Absolutely loving this cute little Phoenix.

Sorry if any of that was hard to follow, the joys of great vaping have overcome me.

400 might end up being best for you if you're at 100% VG. Thicker juices have a harder time with the 500, although HHV 100% VG isn't as thick as others. YMMV.

Anyone ever use a regular wick in a Cobra clone without using mesh? Seems like I've
seen picks of silica or something dangling in the tank. Have you done this?

I've seen where people used hollow ss wick with silica in the middle hanging down into the tank.
