Am I doing this wrong ?

Take a chunk of rayon, cut over length, about the size of a pencil. Between thumbs and forefingers, twist down to size of a pencil lead. (try me, I have years of experience with this motion). Thread tightly twisted rayon into coil. Cut to length.
By the end of the day, the wick burns. Maybe too much wick ?

Just a bit much, or you're heating it too much. Basically, you're not getting enough juice to the wick and it's causing it to burn. I get a little bit of browning on my wicks for cleaner juice, and sometimes some blackening under the coil for a really gunky NET. Burnt.. not much!

I'd guess too much wick. The rayon should go through and be snug with a little shoulder puff on each side of the wick. In my experience, it should not be not tightly twisted.

Just finished re-coiling the Rose with a vertical, twisted 30g and it's reading about 1.6 ohm. The previous coil (a single 30g) was jumping all over the place - I think I had cut the leads too short and wasn't getting a proper connection. Hoping this one is more stable than the last. Retic, when you do the vertical coil, is your positive lead on the top or bottom?
My positive is at the top and I'd need 6 beers trying to coil it with 30ga . :)

First coil with 26ga in the Aqua v2. 7 wraps came in at .9 ohms. Flavor & vapor are really good. So far, it's wicking well.

26ga is a lot easier to work with than 28ga. Coil heats up quickly, and the vapor is warm but not too warm at 14W on the ZNA Lite.

26ga also holds heat longer - as I discovered when my finger brushed it during building. Yow!

Other than that mishap, I'm loving the new build.
I've done that a few times with the 26 gauge, doesn't feel good lol

I just twist the end to get it started through the coil. It's all fluffy because I trim the ends off after I pull it through.

My :2c:. just a tad too much, Papaw, the coil is suffocating.

Managed to do it with one, but sure wanted another by the time I was done.
*Note to self: get some 28g Kanthal.

They don't start getting better looking after 4?

Ya stop caring after 3 and you're happy with anything after 6 . :)

I was determined she'd be mine after one.

I just twist the end to get it started through the coil. It's all fluffy because I trim the ends off after I pull it through.

I've used both methods with good results. I even wet the Rayon with juice the whole length while not twisting, but rolling it somewhat like you do Papaw. Then bend it L shape across the deck. The juice helps hold it close to the wall and not blocking the juice channels. Rayon also tends to shrink a bit when wet, so if you lube it up first, you know it's not gonna be loose when in the coil.

When using Lori's method with dry Rayon, you'll see fluffy shoulders on either side of the coil. (sorry, don't have pics of that)

I also vape mouth to lung similar to how a pipe smoker would puff on a pipe with shallow inhales and exhale through both nose and mouth.

All my KFL's and the ErlP are running 26g spaced singles. The Aqua has 28g micro duals.

Been using spaced coils a bit too and IMO, they get just as gunked up as micro-coils, except the gunk is spread out further and looks like less. Not much flavor change for me either. Just my :2c:

    Twisted nickel improves flavor tremendously.

Makes me want to switch out all my coils.

I am so happy you got rid of the "funk". That is really strange. I wonder what that was? I guess we will never know. You should complain to the vendor. Maybe they will have a talk with the manufacturer, and get that straightened out.

Well the dual coils on the Aqua 2 have been a challenge for me. I am having to wick it differently, and nothing I've done so far has worked well. I can chain vape at 7.9 watts, with a 1.2 ohm coil. Anything above that, and I get dry hits. I like the Aqua2, but it is a lot of trouble for me. You have to be precise, or it just doesn't work out well. I had both coils doing the same, then one changed a little. Took wicks out, played with the coil, and got them firing at same time again. The screw had also come slightly loose. It was tight, but not too tight when I built it initially. The dual coil set up is not doing much for me at this point. 3.2 volts is what it is showing for 8.2 watts. If I want to chain vape, I have to go back to 7.9 watts. That is not a satisfying vape. If I don't get the wicking right soon, I think I will just go back to a single coil, and lower the ohms.

I've been messing around with contact nickel coils. Had the most awful luck with then a month ago, and for some reason every single one I've built are working flawlessly.

Only reason why I'm working on that is cos im trying to get the size of the coils down for my dual coil RTAS like the Aqua or fogger
