so, just a felt a need to update since this thread is still kicking.
my bus driver decided to just drive by the bus stop today, although i was waiting. this middle aged woman stops inside the bus shelter five feet away from me and starts calling for my attention. i turn my music off, and she asks me if my pv works. i tell her yes, and toss a website her way. i also tell her that blu pvs are now sold at corner stores, and that chargers/cartridges can also be found online.
then she asked me if i had an extra one. for her to have. to keep forever.
sorry, lady. >.<
i have two 1100 mah ego batteries in my daily carry, plus one ce2, ce3, and dc carto.

I've studied enough microbiology to not worry too much. Every time you flush a toilet or tie your shoes.... well, you don't want to know.

Relatively speaking wiping your drip tip with an alcohol swab before and after sharing it with a total stranger is far less hazardous.
I flush toilets with my foot and never untie my shoes so :p

I dont mean to offend you, but the statement you just made is half false and potentially dangerous. For every person that scrolls past your post, there's another that stops, reads and says "OMG?!! FOR REAL". You and those people concern me and I am compelled to say something. Not as a personal attack, but just because it's the responsible thing to do.

YES it is easy to pass a virus orally...namely the Cold virus and Herpes Simplex(coldsore virus)

but HIV...extremely low to NO RISK. Here is a quote directly from Avert.org, a well know HIV/AIDS Charity/education website

"Blood in the mouth carries an even lower risk. The lining of the mouth is very protective, so the only way HIV could enter the bloodstream would be if the person had a cut, open sore or area of inflammation somewhere in their mouth or throat (if the blood was swallowed). Even then, the person would have to get a fairly significant quantity of fresh blood (i.e. an amount that can be clearly seen or tasted) directly into the region of the cut or sore for there to be a risk. HIV is diluted by saliva and easily killed by stomach acid once the blood is swallowed."

I don't know about you, but if someone was orally bleeding enough for me to see it, I'd hand them a tissue instead of my PV. Other than that an alcohol pad or rubber cap will do.

and one more thing, HIV(Human immunodeficiency Virus) is whats' transmitted

AIDS(Acquired Immune deficiency Syndrome) is caused by HIV...you don't catch AIDS. AIDS is a weakened state that your immune system goes into after being exposed to HIV.

HIV Transmission Frequently Asked Questions

I've worked as an HIV prevention counselor for the past 4 years and was all ready to correct this but I saw you beat me to it and did a hell of a job at it i might add. Even better than I would have myself.

I generally let anyone try my e-cig who seems interested. I usually even offer if someone is asking about it. I agree with many of the others who commented on here, we touch door knobs and other things in public places all the time and then touch our faces, mouths, and pv's without washing our hands (at least i do). These things are just as likely, if not more, to transmit common viruses than sharing a pv with someone.

My thoughts exactly. I let anyone who wants to try it try it. Using a public restroom is probably more unsanitary.

I carry a spare, usually a Riva w/carto loaded with my DIY Cinnamon. That's the rig I give anybody in our Families that smokes if they want to try vapin. All I ask is if they don't use it, give it back. . .or. . .give it to somebody that smokes. I just don't want it to go to waste. JMHO

Cheers,

just saw this tonight. Cheapest e-cig you can get. $4.15 for one or a 25 pack for $105.99 dollars from ecigfair.com I have no idea how much shipping is as this is coming from China. Must make an order of 25 dollars minimum. Still, could be a great deal to be able to hand out e-cigs to potential vapers.

I let a female friend of mine puff on my e-cig but we have known each other for 20 years and I did date her in high school. She's married now but my e-cig was happy to have her lips on it.

I don't use driptips at all, I just use these all the time (might be for 510's only) ;

Soft Sani-Tips (10 Pack) - MyFreedomSmokes.com

Pack of 10, very well made.
Oddly enough I've found the tips I like best come with my cartos little black rubber ones. My vendor also sells them separately.

It really hasn't come up for me but I would share with anyone I'd let have a puff off my cig. Friends, family co workers I know really well.

Anyone else I've always got extra tips on me unless they have a drooling problem I don't think more caution than that is needed. Sterilize afterwards using method of your choice and you should be fine.

I'm honestly surprised so many people are concerned most smokers I've been around don't seem to think twice before sharing a cig but then it's generally not a stranger asking for a puff.

I (and others) consider their PV to be a "Personal Item". Similar to your favorite pair of shoes and feel more than a little uncomfortable passing their PV (even with a fresh new cartridge) to a stranger.

Now with that said...Up until a year ago, I would carry 2 or 3 new cartridges with me everywhere just in case this situation would come up. Back then I would even ask people if they would like to try it out and show them the new cartridges (still in the cellophane wrappers) to make them feel more comfortable. The overwhelming vast majority would politely refuse but would say they will check it out on the web or possibly order one.

Those that did "give it a test drive" were surprised that the vapor really did taste like smoke IE had the texture and heaviness of smoke.

Obviously, the only way a smoker will ever really know would be when they "try it out" for themselves. We all know, there's not enough words to effectively describe the sensation of vaping to a smoker. Ya just have to try it to truly understand.
