I am pretty newbified. Learning more every day. Currently running at Ego C twist and loving it. My carto is in tank so has stayed moist. I am at a week and a half and running on this carto. Do they, like, burn out ever? How do I know when to replace them?

For me they eventually start to have a burnt taste to them and/or they start feeling a little clogged. Mine usually last 4 or 5 days. I'm guessing that mine last less time because I chain vape, and because I might be using a little more power than some people (1.7 ohm @ 4w).

I use Smoktech (not Smoktek) single coil LR XL cartos alone (without a tank). Vaping 2.5 ml a day from only one carto I usually go a week or run 18 ml of liquid through one before tossing it. I frequently go twice as long as that if I just don't want to bother with changing out earlier for better taste.

That's interesting. Until you said that, I didn't realize that these were 2 separate companies and not just a typo.

I tried rinsing mine last night, but they're not drying out. At two bux a pop a week is fine for me ... rather err on the side of saving $ on juice.

Just rinsing typically won't do it. Best (Easiest) method to clean a carto involves a cup of hot water and a syrninge. Suck hot water through the carto then squirt it out in the sink. Do this 3-4 times until the water doesn't smell like juice. Then pump the syringe in and out to push and pull clean water through the cart both ways. Do this slowly or you risk blowing out your filler. After 3-4 pumps you can take it out of the water then push / pull air through it to assist in drying. Once it doesnt gurgle you can leave it sit vertically overnight and it should be good the next day.

Depending on if you clean or not, most often you can tell a carto is bad with the following critera-
1- Did it stop firing? Replace
2- Does it taste burnt? Replace
3- Is the flavor / vapor getting dull? Clean or Replace
4- Is it gurgling (Getting juice in the air tube and in your mouth)? Clean or replace
5- Is it generally annoying you and not worth the frustration for a $1-$3 piece of equipment? Replace

Constant topping off is key to carto life. Each time you get a burnt hit the coil contamination increases. I think that's why a carto tank extends the life of a carto. It stays wet and doesn't burn juice on the coil.

Using cartos outside a tank, 5 days is about all I can stand before tossing it and grabbing a new carto.

I usually use 15 ml bottles cause I like a bunch of different flavors. When Im not using them I cap them and put them with the juice with a rubber band. I have never had a problem with them not lasting the life of the bottle of juice so thats about 15 refills there. I do the same with my tank cartos but with 30 ml bottles. They last the same as the juice.
