'nother good find, dru. We've signed up for notifiers.

Legs are growing, just want to know who Smoant is. Never heard of them. Love the look, love the white, love silver buttons!

So, is 2016 the year of side by sides & mini mods?

White for me as well, pokes. Cutie little thing, isn't it?? I like this one!

A little bit of digging shows the name, Smoant Knight V1, has been trademarked by the Shenzhen Cloupor Technology Co. I don't know, is this potentially good news in terms of the quality and reputation of Cloupor, or not?

SMOANT KNIGHTS V1 Trademark Application of Shenzhen Cloupor Technology Co., Ltd. - Serial Number 86928721 :: Justia Trademarks

I have zero clue about Cloupor other than the Clouper Mini I received as a gift from ECF. Does that one have a YeeHaw chip, too? I don't use it much at all, but I do like the manufacture of it. It functions perfectly.

And by weather, you mean the force of nature that is KD?

I simply do not know weather or not you meant that...... ;)

I've been told that I have one of these coning in for review...

Very koolio, Shawn. I'm looking forward to your review. When do you think you'll have the device?

I'm interested enough to read more. I'm not interested enough to register an account just to see more details. Besides, RJR has enough of my money already. The VUSE system still relies on carts. I refuse to go back there.

Welp, thought I'd take one for the team and register an account. I didn't get too terribly far in the process as they want a last four. Nuh uh. Sorry, RJR, but noooooooooo.

Too bad. I so wanted to proceed with my registration...

It IS coming from China. Could be at home today, or it might show up next month...

My brain may be clouded but the sarcasm still works. ;)

Last four digits for more info? RJR is insane! I realize that CC #s used to be used to show some kind of proof of age. Now 14 year olds carry CCs. No way, no how, RJR. May your high-tech cartomizers collect dust on store shelves...

Well............................. my Vuse Mod pict went over like a lead balloon /lol

My post was a bit obtuse. I love innovation and I was hoping ? that some of the features of this beginner mod might inspire others to think of ways our current gear could be improved. The thing is, that like all of you, carts don't cut the mustard for me. Left those puppies years ago. On the other hand, my GF loves the little thing with it's retractable cart and Bluetooth pairing. Of course I told here, be prepared to buy a new one every 4 to 6 months given the life span of the puny internal Li Ion. She thinks EASY PEASY and I like to fiddle.

Carry on!

:)

I just got it in the mail and have used it for roughly five minutes, but I'm liking it. I currently have the 1.8 Nautilus coil in it and it's pretty rad. It's nicely made for a mass produced device, feels good in the hand, easy to set up, and easy to use. It also comes with its own Aspire 18650, which I'm currently charging and using one of my own.

I'll try to remember to post an update later, but for now, I give it a thumbs up!

I will do my best to give a solid report, though I doubt my reviewing skills will even come close to Charlie. I am putting it through it's paces now. I will note that it does fit my jeans pocket nicely, but my wife gave me the stink-eye when I asked if she could see the lump in my pants...

EDIT: Todd of Todd's Ecig Reviews recently did one of the Plato if you haven't seen it yet...

Here's a quick update to my review (if I should just edit my post further up, let me know. I don't want to be that guy that gums up the works.):

After roughly 15 hours I'm still really liking the Plato. I did have a leaking issue out of the air holes on the bottom when I filled the tank for the first time and the next refilling, but only because I used a juice bottle with a tip that completely covered the fill hole and didn't allow for any sort of air flow and just pushed the juice through the atty. I switched to a syringe and all is well.

I have only used the 1.8 Nautilus coil and will probably only be using that for the near future because I basically destroyed the Plato/Cleito coil by fiddling with it. I was inspecting the Plato coil because I just wanted to see if it actually is one piece (it is), but the pin on the bottom comes out really easily. I pulled the coil out of the bottom. I can see the more adventurous vaper easily rebuilding them. I put it all back together, but I think it's truly borked. I might give it a try later today, but if it doesn't work, I don't see myself buying any more of the Plato coils just to try out. At about $3.70 a pop, it's just not worth it to me and I'm happy with the Nautilus coils. I have subohm tanks and I really bought the Plato to be more economical with juice, so 1.8 ohms is a-ok with me.

The airflow is nice with the holes nearly closed or all the way open. I saw a couple of reviews that said the Nautilus coils are really restricted airflow-wise, but I haven't had any issue.

I'm not sure what else to say, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm not even remotely an accomplished reviewer, but I have been vaping for roughly six years so I have a bit of experience with the crap that we have seen as well as the awesomeness. In my opinion, the Plato is pretty darn good for a $50 device. I can see the novice and the 'pro' being happy with it. I plan on using it as my daily this week, so we'll see how it goes (I'll have my trusty BB as backup as per usual).

I've seen it cheaper than what I paid ($49.99), but I really wanted the blue one and the place I found it (VapeNW) was one of the only places I found it for under $60.

Sorry if this was full of words and empty of info, but again, feel free to ask any questions if you have them and I'll try to answer them!

Apologies neither accepted nor required, this is exactly what I was looking for. An accomplished BB user's comparative perspective. And you said enough to tell me that it's an adequate substitute, with an 18650 inside. Not a replacement, but a substitute. I'm sure it won't last as long, but at $50, who'd expect it to? Plus, I like the look (and I like the blue too).

Idunno, @Katdarling - are you sure this one's off your list of Maybe? I'm semi-inclined to try it, based on SS' descriptions. Let's tawk, ya? :)

Maybe watch a review or three?

Thanks, SS!

F5'ing next weekend? We sure will be...

Todd's review is what sold me on it and VapeNW shipped it super fast.
The 'shell' is aluminum I think but the 'base' is plastic and it seems fairly brittle plastic, so I'm not sure how many drops it'll survive, but I think I'll definitely get my 50 bucks worth out of it.

I will be F5-ing next weekend, I NEED the BB4 in my life.

Crap.
I wanted to point out some things about the tank. I have the same reservations about the tank as Todd did. I haven't tried changing the coils yet, but Todd had an issue with the Nautilus coil being stuck in the bottom of the tank. I can see that being problematic. I really wish the tank came out as a whole unit, but you have to unscrew the top, which takes out the atty, then you slide out the glass. It would be sooo much easier if the tank came out as a single unit, then you unscrewed the atty from a base...

This isn't a deal breaker for me, I still really like the Plato, but it might give others pause...

Loks like same people who cloned the XvoStick incorporating design elements of the Black Oak starting a new company to market it as an original mod. Nice looking unit!
