2.5-3 years later, I'm still ecstatic with these Unions. They never made it to the endlessly growing "Sexiest" list of SbS mods, but they sit right at the very top of my personal list, along with the Xvos.

Simple, sturdy, and amazingly resilient. Very lightweight and easy to carry (smooth, curved lines, all around). I even adapted to the top-firing button, which actually surprised me.

Coupla tiny little nicks is all they've got, and only one of them has even that. They're USED. A LOT. Those who know me also know that "gingerly" is not a word in my galaxy.

To the folks over at RusMods, thank you & well done (indeed!). One of my better vape purchases, for sure.

Nothing at all man, yeah in the video doesn't says anything for the the screw on the 510 connector !

I remember searching for this mod back in the day, and i didn't even know the it's name... L☻L !

I also found this video, maybe it's useful for someone... !?

Thanks for this too. I had the other vid from way back, but couldn't remember if they dealt with the plate screw. That teardown has worked out poorly for a few folks because it breaks the hermetic seal, which is a great aspect of the mod.

The screws in question are how one adjusts the height of the plate as compared to the fixed screw (for the aforementioned seal). They're tiny and can be lost easily.

I've been fortunate so far, but think I might order a few more spares to be safest.

I think I'm going to have to measure a known correct sample. That reddit post is from a group discussing 3D printers, and an M6 (6mm) is close (0.2362”)to a US 1/4".

As a sanity check, look at a 2mm coil rod and imagine one 3 times larger.

The one that vanished is much smaller than that, about the diameter of a very small post screw on an atomizer. Thanks for jumping in, though. Every little bit helps.

In my defense, my two XvoStick are the newer one piece design (2019 era and later) and doesn't use a grub screw for the 510 plate. Does the two piece design use a fixed 510 pin? The one piece design uses a spring loaded 510.

If they are the same size as many rebuildable atomizers grub screws, Fasttech (R.I.P.) sold these.

Yeah, Bill. I think he finally gave into the crowd and switched to spring-loaded with the later versions. Out of all the things he ended up doing, I still find the very first one to be my favorite, both in design and application.

Personally, I'm a big fan of fixed pins and am even still holding one of the original Ola-X Hero mods simply for that reason. In my younger days, I also MUCH preferred driving a standard shift car too. I've grown lazier with my driving but not yet with my vaping.

Springs are fine but I'd prefer fixed if given an option. It's a control thing. I have some mods that I simply can't use with any tank that I want, just because of the spring-loaded pins. Screwdriver-adjustable is the perfect design for me, and the Xvo's adjustable/removable plate is a close second.

In the Xvo's case, it also allows one to easily remove the plate and give everything a thorough cleaning, which is a wonderful thing. :)

On the subject of 510 connections, that is one reason I have so much respect for Dejan at Limelight Mods. He came up with a genius method for assuring proper pin depth and connection.

It's a piece with a sliding shoe. To adjust, you loosen the battery cap so the battery is loose. Screw on the atomizer so it's tight against the top plate. Then as you tighten the battery cap, the battery pushes the contact shoe up into position against the atty. It has (for its size) beefy areas on each side which contact the slots 100% as it rises up and makes a connection with enough area to get a solid electrical path with no spring to affect it.

But the XVO is a different beast and like DP, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Probably beating a dead horse, but I'd bet a lot of people have no idea what we've been talking about. This is looking straight down into the plate in question. Note the size of the 510, and compare it to the black threaded hole where the set screw is supposed to be.

Edit: No, it's not that nasty dirty. The brown pieces are actually shiny silver. I am a really bad photographer and my camera seems to just do what it feels like.

These help explain it too (in the event anyone but us actually cares). :D

I have a couple of pieces from Mod Forge, they used to be called Steel Labs, and in the old days they were best known as Mod Dog.
The 510 tool is a good investment.
