I have a couple of pieces from mod Forge, they used to be called Steel Labs, and in the old days they were best known as mod Dog.
The 510 tool is a good investment.

Weren't they the only place to get a sealed 510 too?

One modder told me that they either went out of business or stopped producing the sealed ones. I have no idea if it's true but I did notice that some expensive mods are shipping with those little plastic "guards" included in the package now.

I find that to be rather unfortunate.

It is perhaps the Nano series you are thinking of, it has an adjustable positive pin screw and is sealed with peek/pei and an oring as a seal.
It is available in BF and non BF, 16 and 22mm, 22mm catch, 24mm catch and 22mm top mount.
They existed in 18mm before, but due to how the industry has changed, there are not many small attys left, so it has been discontinued.

How much I enjoy shopping from Michelle....ummm, three of the rows are Mod Dog.

TEK division knows I use ModForge/ModDog's 510, but if I'm not completely wrong I think SubMonkey too.
Certainly a bunch more mod manufacturers.

Since we’re speaking sbs….

That is an amazing site I was not aware of. Looks like very high quality parts and pieces. And also some very useful things I was not aware were even availible. Do you know if they ship to the US?

As service friendly and nice as Michele is I will be surprised if he doesn't ship to the US. ModForge is Italian company.
If you are going to buy 510's, let me know if you need pdf files, Before I forget, also remember to buy Nano Connectors.
In terms of quality in my opinion, Mod Dog is way above mod makers uk, Stealth Vape.

Post a couple of pieces pdf files, a Glitch, and a Nano.

I never have understood why ALL 510s aren't sealed, it just doesn't make sense to me.

Right? I'll go to my grave wondering why my $20-30 mods just keep pumping and pumping, but if I put "the wrong" atty on a $200-300 mod, it might fry more quickly than a McDonald's hamburger.

Making the perfect 510 connection is a bit complicated.

Atty 510 dimensions are not standardized, there is an extremely large difference in the length of the positive 510 pin seen from the atty base, atty to atty brand.

A 510 manufacturer must take that into account.

In recent years there are three types we often see, spring loaded, rubber loaded, and adjustable positive pin, where spring loaded is the dominant one.

If we stick to the dominant type, then it is mostly an o-ring they use to keep it fairly tight against leakage. If, on the other hand, you choose to increase the strength of the o-ring, you also increase the friction on the system.

It is entirely possible to make a more bombproof system, but then we get a 510 connection that is unsuitable for mods whose spring loaded is the choice.

There are 510s that I never seen to leak. Some of them were BF 510s. I guess that would make sense since the 510 is designed to have juice flow through them. But one sticks out in my mind the most. Maybe you might recall it. As it was the first Aegis before it was called an Aegis. The engineer that designed the Aegis, he first designed the Heatvape Invader Mini.

Heatvape Invader Mini 003.png

It used a fixed 510 and it was potted in something, maybe epoxy (I don't remember). And like many fixed pin, the base screws up and down instead of the pin going up and down (like many others). And I am telling you that you could use the leakiest atty on the planet and no juice will ever get through (or water for that matter).

More old-school SxS action! I missed the bus on both this, and the Smoant Knight V2 when they were around, and always wanted them for my collection. Found this ceramic-baked pearl white V1 listed on another forum recently, and couldn't resist... ;) :)

As original reviewers out there found, the device is a bit weighty, but just great for my coffee table. Has the feel of a quality piece for certain. Surprisingly, the SS temp-limiting setting is working quite smoothly. I just needed to set it 10 degrees higher than a DNA device, and the resistance reading appears to be as accurate...

Also sweet that my VV Berserker Mini V2's air flow control lines up exactly where I like it to be, and the top cap is easily removed for filling... :smokie:

Thanks! Yes, it is in excellent condition....practically new ;)

After a few days with the device, I must say that I'm impressed with the board Smoant used for coming out in 2016 or so. Great battery life, smooth temp-limiting (using 316L), and seemingly accurate resistance reading / wattage output. Very solid device overall.. no button-rattle, etc...

After the nightmare I went through some years back attempting to purchase a XvoStick DNA 60 through Mini-Ecig and coming up empty-handed, I now consider this Knight V1 the sorta-kinda XvoStick "boat-anchor" edition for my collection....

I always felt they were an EXCELLENT replica, and would have JUMPED at them if not for my Xvos.

Mini-Ecig. Mammamia. Great mods, TERRIBLE to deal with (smh). I remember you had some issues. WAY too many people did too. I always got the feeling that modding was very secondary to whatever their main business line was.

I have my suspicions in that area, but they're nothing but that. Regardless, they NEVER seemed to value to their vape clients. SUCH a shame.

I'm glad you landed the Smoant. I saw it listed, and was tempted, but quickly realized that would be "gorging" (lol). It's great that it went somewhere and will be appreciated. :thumb:

I'm looking at the 5Avape clone of the Stratum Balance.
Anyone own one/have an opinion?

It suspiciously looks like a DNA60. Uses the same board as the Ambition Easy Box Mod they say, which also looks like a DNA60 and sports the same specs. But where are the up, down and fire buttons? Anybody see them anywhere? I do like the looks of it though.

I have two, while they work great and I have no regrets buying them, they do not have any sort of liquid barrier causing some seepage into the guts of the device.

The up/down and fire buttons are on the body, sort of blended in. You can sort of see them in the 5th pic on that listing underneath the 510 area

The OG v1 Stratum Balance, made by OLC (Russia), uses a DNA60. Those sold out very quickly ($430 USD).

The fire and up/down buttons very cleverly blend into the overall design.

From OLC:

I added the info on this 3fvape photo:

OLC Stratum released the Balance 2 not long ago. Those have also been selling at a brisk pace.
