Boy, do I hear you! I'm in the same situation. Fearing the vapeocalypse, I would like to find two 50W mods that buck to 1V, with easily replaceable batteries of a quality to last 2 or 3 years. I'd spend $100 each for them. I'd love for them to be a form-factor of my liking. I haven't purchased any hardware since January because nothing has grabbed me beyond simple curiosity. There is little innovation happening at the moment. That's the catch 22. Fear of the vapeocalypse is driving many vapers to do just what we're doing. The same fear is preventing manufacturers from investing resources in R&D and innovation. Where is all the quality hardware in the $75-125 mid range?

We're all in this together, aikanae1. Vapers started this entire alternative to smoking together. And together, we'll get through it. I am not going back to smoking :censored: cigarettes. I can't. If I have to start making mods in my workshop and selling them on a black market, I'll do it. Who in he|| do the FDA and legislators think they are?

We're on the same boat and it isn't the Titanic :- ) I'd love to be able to buy Defenders forever, but now with (so far) a satisfactory experience with the Subox that feels nearly the same in my hand - both rounded - subox a bit more hefty but not that noticeable. I'll likely buy 3 more Subox (me and DW) and that will be it on replaceable mods - I also have the Invader Mini... And then just buy Defenders until they're either banned and restricted or too costly. That one video on the Defender, also holds out hope of being able to replace the batt: (about 15min. in)

I don't even get a Kent High Five? I now have/ has/ haz sad.

I just posted in another thread. I had a bunch of multi quotes. I think some of them belonged here.

Someone please tell me to stop multi-tasking.

So now, whomever it was I meant to quote, just use your imagine and pretend that I actually said something to you.

Stop multi-tasking!! ;)

I've been waiting to see the Subox offered without the subtank mini before buying. But I like the Kbox so well, that I want some of those for long term storage, too.

That's an interesting video about possibly replacing the Defender battery. That makes me wonder if the same could be done to a lot of these other mods with internal batteries, such as the iSticks and MVP's. If so, they could be rebuilt also. But I suppose for those mods, it all comes down to how long the rest of the electronics work.

If you want to see me get lynched, by all means, take a number and stand in line, dear one. ;)

(but I want something gooey sweet and caramelesque for my last meal, ok??)

I think you messed with the multiquote thing and something that you quoted came up as being your own doing :w00t:

I've had the iStick 20 and 30W mods apart. The batteries are easily replaceable with basic soldering skills...

It's of course possible but I've seen the inside of some of the other internals and they're a bit different. The Defender has those rails and rail guides where everything slips out together. (as in the video) You would still have to solder or use a solderless way of replacing the batt.

Most of these with lipo batteries could be replaced but it uually requires skills and tools that the average vaper doesn't have. I've know a number of modders that buy istick 50's just to replace the internals and add a different board.

Subox mods and tanks are listed seperatley already, some pre-orders shipping at the end of the month.

Well, if push comes to shove, I'd be willing to acquire some of those skills. I know how to solder, so that's no biggie. I've never built a mod, or taken one and replaced the electronics. But if it's the choice between that and having nothing to vape on, I'd do it. :vapor:

Do you know which sites are taking the pre-orders for the Subox without the tanks?

Well, there's always mechanicals...

While I prefer regulated mods with removable batteries, I also have a few mechs in my vapocolypse box, and a few Kicks for them as well.

Soldering directly to an 18650 (or any battery without solder tabs) can be a bit tricky. Too long a contact with the iron and you may damage the battery. Too short and you'll get a cold solder connection that won't last. If the mod has enough room, soldering in the appropriate parts of a battery holder is a better way to go.
