OH PLEASE, exploding cylinders? are you people really that stupid? the front caps and the screw cap would fly out before the actual cylinder would explode. I gaurantee at around 30-40 psi the caps would fly out before anything would ever happen to the cylinder housing. As for venting, the silicon seal where the power meets would blow out first even before teh caps, hell the ego button has enough spacing for venting anyways. again, people are taking things to a hole new level of stupidity. Even on the thin e-cigs you notice the light cap has 2 hole ont he side? that's not just for you to pick open, it's there to vent in the event something goes wrong with the battery.

If I hit some nitroglycerin with a hammer would the result of rapidly expanding gas be considered an explosion? Let's just say that in a pv the rapidly expanding gases propel the ends out with explosive force. To keep it simple lets call it an explosion. I'm not sure what the actual technical definition is.

Yeah what a derp.

On a cig style model sure the end cap would blow out and potentially launch the thing down your throat.

I know someone had a joke about it, but all this really is making me want a cigarette.

I don't want a cigarette........after only 3 weeks of vaping, I like it much better than smoking, already feel better, and I smoked for over 40 years up to 2 packs a day. That in itself is pretty amazing for me, but I do think about this horrible accident now every time I pick up my e-cig. I'm slowly getting over it, though. I just saw on the news two more articles about "mouth destroying toothbrushes" and "arsenic in organic baby food"...........You can't let this stuff get to you. Yea, easy for me to say and not truly believe..........right now.

could always buy a gooseneck
I ordered 2 today... the vendor is awesome btw, I got the notification that my order was shipped less than an hour after placing it.

Since the January mod explosion incident I've been mostly vaping on these:
Smok Tech 5 Volt 510 Manual USB Passthrough
unfortunately they aren't exactly portable but I'm going to try them with a battery pack. I can live with Li-ion batteries near me; I use them all the time in other devices. I'd just rather have them away from my face.

I'm actually vaping more tonight than usual (Silver Bullet - 3100mah 18650s and DCT) ... It 'vents' out through holes around the button :glare:, which would probably be enough to help during the initial leak to have enough time to drop it\throw it. Glad I got the bigger batteries now and reading that they aren't having as many of these issues. Hope to hear more from Mr. Holloway and the whole situation soon.

Edit: Thanks for mentioning the gooseneck, I'm looking at those now.

It hasnt happened to me but I have a tube mod right next to me right now called the Bombshell and in it are two rcr123a batteries and based on your posts and the info Ive been reading I think it is going to be retired permanently and the batteries thrown out. I would not even sell either the batteries or the device to someone else in fear it could hurt someone. I suppose it is fine since it has a vent hole in the bottom hopefully giving enough warning time to release the rocket but thats not good enough for me anymore Im afraid. I think I'm going to stick with mods that have magnets holding on the cover. Either way Im praying for anyone that has been hurt by these.

Good point about the magnets. I have no idea why more mods do not have this common sense function. Cost cannot be the issue when mods cost $75 - $220 on average. Maybe after this incident, suppliers may offer a quick release base as an option.

Heh, one of my buddies who is a smoker saw me vaping today on break when I was sitting in my office and ran out (joking) like I was going to set the place on fire and kill everyone. *sighs* I know he was joking, but I can really anticipate having to deal with a lot of low brow drivel in my daily life. Can't wait 'til Friday night at the coffee house to see who berates me.
