Just tonight I was refilling one of my V2 carts............I've only done this once or twice so far, and after letting it sit for several hours, I attached it to the V2 battery but when I took a couple of drags after test-firing it first, I hear a sizzling sound and the top of the battery where it joins the cart got warm very quickly. It scared me a bit so I unscrewed it and have not tried it again. Is this something to worry about? Battery is freshly charged, can excess liquid getting on the battery cause this "heating up"? In light of current events, it spooked me.

Well the sizzling and poping and cracking noises are prefectly normal. The the atty/carto doing its thing. Whats getting hot? The atty/carto? Thats normal too. Actually attys/cartos can get very hot. The heat might transfer to the 510 connection as well, not sure since I never touched that since I use tanks, and my 510 connection is flush.

Take the battery out, as long as thats not warm then you are good.

The top of the battery where it connects to the cart was warm, and seemed to be spreading downward. When I took the battery off, it remained warm for a few minutes. The same battery is acting fine with a different cart on it now.

It is very sad what has happened to Tom and hope he recovers quickly. That being said, the only thing I can think of is when I am researching a new mod or any mod for that fact, I personally look in the description to see if it is ok to use stacked batteries in their mod. I would think, (or hope), they have tested extensively and put the correct electronics in the device that will handle that type of load on the mod or batteries. Just because a mod uses 18650 batteries doesn't mean they will also work with LiFePO4 or similar batteries safely. In fact there are a few vendors out there that put disclaimers on such use. It also is the same for LR atomizers as well. Yet we read all the time of people that vape a 5v+ pv using a 1.5-1.8 ohm atty. With all the warnings from this forum and on vendors sites, this just shouldn't happen and as far as i'm concerned, the consequences fall solely on the individuals that use their pv's in a dangerous manner. It is sad to say, but also true......

Take a Kleenex,or paper towel and cover the battery end and blow thru the top of the cart. Excess will come out the battery end of the carto and then wipe off battery end again with clean towel and try it again. Sounds like you got it a little over full.

Exactly right. when you do those just do about ten drops down the side and set it down so it settles in, then give it the old thermometer shake and put in 6 or 7 more , cap it up and do the blow through.
do it when you have a steady hand though, those little carts are a bugger.
and do it over a paper towel. e juice can eat a hole in desk varnish.

It is impossible to blow up an ecig... there, everyone feel better? hehe, j/k.

I still stand by my point that caution is intelligent, but excessively avoiding activities you love to do because of potential risk is the antithesis of human. I don't mean any offense to anybody, but we are clearly indoctrinated into this cult fanaticism that everything needs to be 100% safe. .. at the first hint of risk we must struggle to avoid it.

Sure there are some risks I will eschew, but not because I'm afraid, it's just because I don't like the activity in question.

Let me tell you a little story about a kid I knew growing up. We were on a baseball team together. Our pitcher was up to bat, great guy... beamed in the face with the baseball (this was only pony league), broke his nose, had to go to the hospital. This other kid on the team like developed this phobia against going up to bat. he would purposely strike out just to get the ordeal over with. he didn't want it to happen to him so much that he eventually dropped off the team because the coach kept harassing him about his lack of performance. he used to be a good player too.. 2nd base, good batting avrg. When that guy graduated (a year ahead of me) he was nearly killed in a car wreck.. someone else plowed into him, not even drunk or anything. now he has a metal plate in his head.

the point is, whether you're safe or not safe, anything can happen. I'm not sayin' be a complete wreckless idiot..information is good, but don't let it work against your better judgement and deprive you of the fun things in life you want to do.

Life: enjoy the ride, nobody gets out alive.
