i read it somewhere too, just cant recall where, might have been in vapers lounge, either way, ill disregard any details till tom steps forward and makes a statement, or there is an interview with him, not enough solid details and too much speculation
Its a device with a power source , it can happen but is very rare.The concerns of stacked batteries from one very long person here are very much true.Had a mod the first time using(first time pushing the button) it caught fire in my hand , contacted the seller and got it replaced after sending it in.I still use the replacement and do not think it was anyone fault just a lottery in the bad kinda way thing.Never had an expolding battery thankfully, but that can happen with a pv or a toaster,microwave, or gfi that is faulty(had one of those too).Matches or lighters cause many more problems, be it house fires or car accidents.The anti's wil never compare the dangers of millions of igniting(smoking) people walking every state daily but jump on a single incident of a faulty pv.
I received several messages from an auction website called VaporHawk where they say according to a member on ECF whose name I will not say but a member who is well known and trusted had the information. It was a Prodigy v3 "NOT SOLD" on Vapor Hawk
In this thread and in some of the others going around the type of PV for this incident has been mixed up with the Jan incident. I have not seen the PV in this incident identified as of yet...

It was also stated that the firemen at the scene of the Florida explosion found several 3.0 v batteries. Whether these were the batteries that exploded or used in the mod that exploded is not said. They might have been laying around and not been from the mod Tom was using.
The january incident, colorado, I believe was the prodigy v3. I haven't seen anything come out on the florida pv yet. Do you have a link for fl also being prodigy?
If you read that whole thing, she says that she was leaving the battery on th echarger until she needed it. sometimes for days. No good can come of that.
That is really frightening, hope her insurance company does not get wind of that fact.

and I can assure you that there is a very common saying in this industry.
Its not me , it is the industry standard.

Not calling anybody stupid, but as far as insurance goes, a fire is a fire.
I just in fact finished a 20,000 plus cleaning job caused by an electric sander that was left plugged in indefinately, and caught fire. Covered Peril.
But not to get off track, the fact is , she would be covered.

Yeah, A relatives house caught fire when the self docking/charging robot vaccuum apparently overcharged. Scary.
Yeah, I wanted one too. Maybe when they teach them to go downstairs and dock themselves on the concrete floor in the basement!

Just to clarify, the first two links for the exploding ego batteries happened whilst charging through a computer usb port, not recommended.
The 18650 incident was a mod short circuiting for a prolonged period, that would cause any battery to vent without any protection on the device or the battery.
I did read in a thread that these were not included because they were not explode in your face events.
Try testing your charger. TR-001 is getting old and they do fail. Just want to make sure your safe from this happening again. Happy vaping.
Interesting. Why is this? I've never heard warnings against this before. The fact that the Ego chargers are USB to begin with would seem to promote the fact that they should be plugged into computer USB ports. If it's unsafe then why not make them as wall socket plugs only?

Just to add, I never actually do plug these into my computer USB post, but use a wall socket USB adapter.
Try testing your charger. TR-001 is getting old and they do fail. Just want to make sure your safe from this happening again. Happy vaping.
